The Director of Nursing Services’ primary responsibility is to ensure the provision of quality nursing care on a 24-hour basis to the residents of the facility in accordance with Federal, State and Local standards and regulations.

Basic Qualification

Education/Training: The desired minimum requirements to effectively perform position responsibilities include graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an RN degree or higher. Current CPR card required.

Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent management skills or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Five years of responsible nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care facility with three years in a management position.

Standard Requirements

1. Support the Missions, Values, and Vision of Hyatt Family Facilities and the facility.
2. Protect Resident Rights and ensure an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.

3. Support, coordinate with, and implement specific procedures and programs for:
a. Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/ disaster plans, risk management and security, report and/or correcting unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs
b. Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data.

4. Support and participate in common teamwork: a. Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment. b. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations. c. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns. d. Promotes customer service with residents, family members and guests. e. Adheres to requirements for in-service training; attendance, uniform, department and dress code policies, including personal hygiene, and completes other work duties as assigned.

Essential Duties

1. Responsible to oversee the coordination and execution of facility nursing services, monitor, measure, and evaluate the outcomes of nursing care.

2. The Director of Nursing oversees all nursing and related staff; provides scheduled and unscheduled performance reviews and discipline as necessary to staff.

3. The Director of Nursing should enforce company policies and procedures as they relate to patient care. Ensure adequate nursing coverage; ensure nursing staff provides appropriate, timely and pertinent documentation of patient care.

4. The Director of Nursing should participate actively in the facility’s quality assurance process. He/she should lead and participate in the quality improvement programs including QA committee.

5. The Director of Nursing ensures that nursing practice in the facility reflects the following nursing skills

 Provide ongoing training to nursing staff to ensure provision of quality care and assessments.

 Ensures the needs of current and potential residents are met.

6. The Director of Nursing should develop and implement an organized nursing system for the delivery of care and services to ensure the coordination of nursing services with other facility departments.

7. Ensure nursing related expenses and staff scheduling adhere to facility budgets.

8. Prepare for and oversee federal and state inspections, including execution of plan of corrections when necessary.

Conditions of Environment

Controlled temperature, primarily indoor, well lit, maintained flooring, smoke free and occasional odors that dissipate. Noise level is maintained quiet to moderate.

Other Duties

1. Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances; other duties as assigned by administrator.

2. Meet on-going requirements to maintain current Nursing license.
