Director of Government Relations - Dallas, Texas Job at Texas Instruments

About the Role:
Texas Instruments (TI) Government Relations represents the company on important public policy issues with key government decision makers, industry associations and business partners.
In this role, you will advocate for TI policy priorities and gain direct exposure to business, sales and operations leaders of the company.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Represent TI externally with State and local elected officials and community leaders in communities where TI operates.
- Become a leader on policy trade association boards in Texas.
- Identify policy issues that impact TI and work with TI stakeholders to formulate positions on issues.
- Directly advocate with lawmakers, executive branch officials, regulatory agencies, industry representatives, trade associations and other external stakeholders to influence public policy in key TI issue areas – tax, energy, water, environmental, workforce, research/higher-ed, public safety.
- Develop strategies to advance policy objectives.
- Closely monitor and analyze state and local policy developments at State and local levels in order to recommend strategies and solutions.
- Facilitate successful fab tours and site visits in order to develop knowledge of TI manufacturing operations and the semiconductor industry.
- Partner with workforce development teams in order to build a network of community partners and funding opportunities to implement STEM-related and manufacturing education programs and policies.
- Work closely with all US GR team members to coordinate on issues.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Texas congressional delegation, site representatives and leadership at the State and local level and key community partners.
- Prepare policy briefings, advocacy materials, testimony, and correspondence on legislative/regulatory actions.
- Promote TI's reputation and thought leadership.
- Position senior executives to most effectively advance TI public policy objectives.
- Counsel and support executives and leaders who represent TI with-in trade associations and other relevant leadership roles.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree related policy field
- 5+ years of relevant experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Five plus years of similar issues management in these policy areas and examples of a proven track record.
- Solid knowledge of State and local legislative and regulatory process.
- Excellent and persuasive written, oral and presentation communications skills. Can communicate effectively at all levels.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Self-starter, who solves problems, adapts to changing circumstances and acts with urgency.
- Knowledge of technology policy issues and/or semiconductor industry.
- Frequent travel within Texas.
- Quick study; ability to adapt skills and new policy challenges.
- Experience working with executives and elected officials; strong relationships with government leaders.
- High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
