The role of Director of Finance is oversight for Continental Plastic’s (CPC) long-term financial health and growth through the accuracy of the Company’s financial records, assurance of a strong internal control environment, design and oversight of financial systems, compliance with all financial regulatory and tax requirements, and maintaining solid relationships with external clients to drive profitability and achieve organizational KPI’s and strategic objectives.
This position serves as a vital risk monitor for CPC leadership, communicating emerging risks on a timely basis to minimize risk. The position also serves as financial partner to CPC’s functional departments/teams, ensuring their compliance with policies and providing information to enable their decision-making. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (non inclusive)
General Accounting:
- Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts. Own general ledger processing to ensure accurate, timely and complete financial information through close to the organization and appropriate 3rd parties.
- Ensure timely and accurate periodic reporting for sales, cost of goods, inventory accounts, costing/bills of material including publication of financial statements and analytical reporting. Coordinate physical inventory process.
- Forecast cash and working capital position through account reconciling activities and provide timely and accurate projections inclusive of identification of risks and opportunities.
- Own contractual and day-to-day relationships for financial service vendors, including auditors, banks, tax preparers, 401k administrators, insurance brokers, payroll, etc.
- Own annual budgeting for financial process and support general annual budget development in partnership with business leaders.
- Provide financial analysis as for capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations, sales, margins, inventory, costing/bills of material, labor, etc.
- Ensure that payables are properly recorded/paid; complete monthly bank reconciliations. Manage ACH payments and incoming/outgoing wire transfers.
Internal Control:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of company internal control policies in order to ensure safeguarding of assets, effective segregation of duties, and minimize the risk of waste, fraud, and abuse, in full compliance with GAAP.
- Lead the annual external audit process and tax reporting processes.
- Monitor and support expense controls; provide analysis to leadership as needed/appropriate.
- Support leadership in managing relationships with financial service vendors, including auditors, tax preparers, banks, 401k administrators, insurance brokers, etc.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor debt levels / compliance with debt covenants.
- Own compliance with local, state, and federal government tax filings as well as compliance with laws and regulations governing business operations. Ensure timely remittance of tax filings.
- Direct annual profit-sharing calculation. Financial Systems
- Prepares and leads the annual operating plan to meet established timelines.
- Perform financial modeling to support existing and new business opportunities.
- Partner with I/T to oversee administration of CPC’s financial infrastructure (ERP), proactively reporting issues and working with IT to resolve; provide testing for system upgrades and enhancements.
- Maintain an orderly filing/recordkeeping system for company transactions.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and does have supervisory responsibilities. The position is classified as salaried, exempt.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

2. Education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics or similar field with a minimum of 7 years of professional corporate manufacturing accounting and cost accounting experience and supervision (preferably in manufacturing). An in-depth working knowledge of GAAP. An intermediate knowledge level of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required, as is experience working with general ledger software such as Great Plains, Oracle, and ERP (Epicor CMS). Must possess proficiency with databases (i.e. MS Access) or other management applications, data modeling and management of large datasets. Must possess the ability to build positive team relationships and achieve outcome-oriented objectives; working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN Enterprise) with a holistic viewpoint; ability to work in a fast-paced environment, setting priorities and managing time effectively. CPA or CMA is required.
3. Must possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret business and technical documents, flow charts, budget information, procedure manuals and so on; the ability to prepare required routine reports and correspondence; ability to communicate effectively with others (verbally and in writing), using skill and diplomacy and have the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
