Description
Prince of Peace is a multi-generational church committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are looking to invest in the next-generation of disciples through the hire of a full-time Director of Children’s Ministry. Our blossoming children’s ministry is already seeing growth, and in the future we hope to see that trend continue. Specifically, our hope is to see:
1. Parents discipling their own children through but not limited to: reading the Scriptures with their children, praying with their children, and modeling the Christian faith to their children.
2. As children age out of Children’s Worship they are able to integrate into corporate worship.
3. A team of committed volunteers serving in the Children’s Ministry.
4. Events throughout the year designed to enhance familial involvement in our community.
5. An increase in the number of children worshiping at Prince of Peace Church.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position is someone called to vocational ministry (either lay or ordained) to children. Additional qualifications include:
1. Clear testimony concerning their faith in Jesus.
2. Seminary or Bible College education preferred.
3. 3 or more years of relevant experience in children’s ministry.
4. A motivated self-starter.
5. Excellent leadership and relationship skills.
6. Appreciation for, and a desire to contextualize the Anglican tradition for the next generation.
Worship
The Children’s Minister will work closely with the Senior Pastor to design worship experiences that are age appropriate, engaging, and that integrate aspects of Anglican Liturgy. Worship experiences include Sunday morning, as well as special services such as but not limited to Holy Week, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, etc.
The Children’s Minister will work closely with the Senior Pastor to select curriculum, or design in house curriculum.
The Children’s Minister will recruit, train, and lead volunteers to assist and lead worship.
The Children’s Minister will oversee and schedule operations in the nursery.
Special Events
The Director of Children’s Ministry will organize a variety of programming throughout the year for families to socialize, invite friends, and serve the community. These programs will be strategically designed to serve as an on-ramp for church involvement/membership. Programs may include Vacation Bible School, Easter and Christmas programming, community wide events/festivals, service projects, etc.
Parental Involvement
The Director of Children’s Ministry will build relationships with parents to help parents disciple their own children.
The Director of Children’s Ministry will find creative ways to involve parents to volunteer and serve in the children’s ministry.
The Director of Children’s Ministry will train parents and grandparents to disciple children through formal classes, social media, pre-recorded lessons, etc.
Leadership
They will participate in staff meetings, and meet regularly with the Senior Pastor.
They will maintain open communication and excellent relationships with all staff and vestry members.
When called upon, they will provide ministry reports to the governing board.
They will recruit and train volunteers.
They will stay up to date with all Church and Diocesan policies, and will maintain records of all background checks and certifications for volunteers.
They will develop and oversee the Children’s Ministry budget.
They will be organized and current with all communications including the web site, newsletters, social media, announcements, etc.
They will ensure that children’s facilities are safe, maintained, and hospitable.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $31,500.00 - $39,700.00 per year
