What you bring to the position:
- Represent, as appropriate, the company as a subject-matter expert internally and externally, including with customers, key accounts, external professional organizations, and key strategic events (e.g., National Sales Meeting)
- Manage the work of senior staff members on one or more projects in the following responsibilities:
- Develop competitive and detailed program plans based on customer needs and with clear areas of differentiation.
- Oversee content through all stages of manuscript and production development.
- Ensure that all products developed are:
- Mathematically accurate and age-appropriate
- Embody the McGraw-Hill Education’s Guiding Principles for Supporting English Learners, helping all learners achieve academic success
- Align to McGraw-Hill Education’s guidelines for academic integrity while being highly competitive and market-winning
- Are published on budget and on schedule.
- Work closely and productively with Product Management and Product Marketing to:
- Analyze competition and market trends and incorporate findings into program
- Conceptualize and plan new programs, establishing market and product requirements, milestone delivery dates, and budgets
- Define the research base for new programs and review research briefs developed by the Research team
- Make creative suggestions that reflect an understanding of current trends in math education, the marketplace and an awareness of teachers’ pain points and needs at the elementary level.
- Participate in market research efforts (e.g. prepare sample lessons, conduct phone interviews, attend focus groups, etc.)
- Provide marketing support, as appropriate, that may include sales and conference presentations, correlations to state guidelines, and workshop support for departmental products.
- Participate in managing staff performance in the following ways:
- Identify opportunities to support employees through professional development activities.
- Identify key team members and groom them for greater responsibilities and future management roles as part of succession planning.
- Develop and foster productive, collaborative relationships with cross functional team leads and with external partners, including advisors and authors.
- Provide clear, consistent, and regular communication among the team and cross functional team members.
- Provides professional development for team members and improves team productivity through goal setting, coaching, training, and regular performance evaluation.
- Work with digital and content team to inform development of new tools/feature sets for digital products and platform development based on instructional design best practices, including integration of adaptive learning and formative assessment.
- Manage editorial program budgets throughout development cycle; provide accurate tracking and forecasting of monthly spending.
- This position will require some travel estimated at 10 to 20%.
A Successful candidate will have:
- Bachelors’ degree in math or related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in math curriculum development and educational publishing.
- A minimum of 7 years of project oversight, including financial oversight, and staff management experience are essential.
- At least 3 years of classroom experience teaching in math in the elementary classroom.
- Comprehensive understanding of trends in math curriculum and pedagogy and facility with the range of instructional models found in math curricula learning science, EL support, or academic integrity in the responsibilities.
- Strong business operations background with experience in the planning and implementation of new business processes and systems
- Strong fiscal and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills: verbal, written and presentation skills, and is able to state expectations clearly and be visible to employees.
- Demonstrated success building strong internal and external relationships and teams
- Strong leadership skills, able to appropriate motivate, excite, and inspire team members and resolve conflicts and be proactive to mediate potential roadblocks to progress.
- High energy and pragmatism; ability to empower others to be proactive.
- Highest integrity, practicing the ethical standards of McGraw Hill and the broader community, acting with fairness.
The pay range for this position is between $100,000 - $125,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
