JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for planning, development and implementation of all the company’s public communications activities, marketing strategies and marketing communications (both external and internal). Directs development and implementation of support materials in the area of internal/external communications, public relations, and marketing. Directs the efforts of the public relations, marketing and communications staff and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for staffing and administration of the Marketing & Communications department, including staff development, budget and expense management, and administration of communications services

Responsible for defining strategy, creating, implementing, and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations program that will enhance the company's image and position within the general public and industry.

Provides strategic counsel to executive team on communications and public relations issues facing the corporation

Directs the team members and department functions necessary for providing communications support to business unit operations, including capital project support, business unit outreach, and community visibility.

Oversees the development, management and implementation of marketing and communications plans to facilitate construction of company transmission projects including communication strategy and creation of appropriate supporting materials.

Directs the management of employee and internal communications including planning, development and implementation of communications vehicles such as quarterly employee update meetings, employee email communications and company intranet.

Responsible for overseeing editorial direction, design, production, and distribution of all company publications.

Directs the development of and ensures a consistent look and feel for all company materials (letterhead, brochures, websites, etc.), protecting the integrity of the company identity and logo and developing and directing a process for managing the marketing material library.

Ensures effective articulation of company's desired brand image and position, assuring consistent communication of image and position throughout the company externally to all constituencies.

Works with company's executive team and other staff to help make sure that the company's philosophy, mission, and vision are pertinent, accessible and actionable throughout the organization.

Directs company's media relations efforts for both earned and purchased media, directing the company's media representatives in their efforts to be responsive to media requests and generate media exposure through tools such as interviews, editorials, white papers, etc., to promote the company and its initiatives

Directs company’s digital communications efforts, including website development and maintenance, social media outreach, and photography and illustration development, retention, and retrieval.

Supervises the management relationship and workflow of contracted outside resources (e.g. public relations/affairs firm, creative design, etc.).

Develops and maintains a crisis communication plan as part of the company's emergency response and preparedness. Oversees department skills development for and active participation in corporate and operational emergency responses.

Coordinates internally with company departments, such as Business Unit Public Affairs, Federal Regulatory, Federal Affairs, RTO Strategy, etc., regularly in the planning, development and implementation of various deliverables and key messaging for the purposes of policy advocacy.

Supports strategic initiatives through the development of public relations and outreach campaigns designed to promote and advance initiatives.

Designs, supports, defines strategy for, participates in, and oversees cross-functional teams throughout the company necessary to support specific company campaigns or initiatives.

Stays current and promotes department education on developments in the fields of marketing, communications, public relations and public affairs and acts as an internal consultant to bring attention and solutions to company priorities.

Maintains a department climate and culture that promotes collaboration and attracts, retains, and motivates top quality team members

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Marketing and Communications Planning or Public Relations.

Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with management, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the company including in media interviews.

Ability to maintain composure and exhibit professionalism while contending with tense situations.

Ability to efficiently manage multiple efforts, tasks and/or projects concurrently.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Fair understanding or ability to enhance understanding of common design packages (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite).

Attention to detail and focus on quality delivery.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and access to reliable means of transportation.

Professional appearance.

Possess sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
