- Maintain member expectations for system reliability.
- Maintain and improve systems that ensure proper documentation of design, specifications, and test procedures.
- Ensure proper control of processes and documentation which includes test plans, control plans, process specifications and tolerances.
- Assist in developing qualification procedures for new technologies.
- Ensure successful implementation of selected technologies.
- Test and analyze integration of systems in a utility environment.
- Process live smart grid data from SCADA, AMI, AVL, CIS and OMS systems to visualize 360-degree operational insight into the real-time performance of the distribution system.
- Assist in improving quality & reliability across multiple corporate disciplines.
- Ensure predictive analytics inform more accurate planning and case justifications
- Ensure seamless integration with asset management and other IT, OT and external (XT) systems
Distribution System Design
- Recommends suitable intelligent grid devices to optimize the system operations.
- Collaborates with engineers to recommend switch locations to enhance system safety and reliability
- Maintains and communicate current knowledge of technology improvements impacting system design.
- Assists in enhancing the communication infrastructure to substations and other SCADA devices.
- Ensures system one-line diagram stays current and accurate
Standards and Specifications
- Evaluate new equipment and devices by researching and meeting with vendors, arrange demonstrations of new products through the Supply Management Department, and make recommendations on their use involving any department affected by the new material
Real-Time systems
- Maintains thorough knowledge of SCADA, AMI and OMS applications and related softwares.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of inter-operability of all systems used in Power Control
- Ensures Regional Network Interface (RNI) and Flex Server is properly administered
- Maintains thorough knowledge of smart meters, Tower Gateway Base stations (TGBs) and other AMI technology developments.
- Ensure effective operation and maintenance of video-walls in control centers
- Ensure effective performance of Radio/Fiber communication networks
Power Control Operations
- Ensures effective monitoring, operating, controlling, and maintaining the integrity of the Power Distribution System
- Ensures all Power control logs and records are maintained.
- Constantly monitor all communications to ensure that information is relayed to appropriate field operations personnel
- Collaborates with Operations, Member-care, and other departments to prepare for major storm events
- Coordinates with GSOC to resolve transmission related issues and concerns.
- Ensure that all member inquiries are promptly, courteously, and professionally addressed.
- Ensure that all complaints are promptly routed to the proper personnel during normal work hours.
Apparatus & Meter Shop
- Maintains adequate inventory of smart meters, metering cubicles, CT/PT meters to meet growth and maintenance needs.
- Ensures smart meters are configured effectively to meet rate plan requirements
- Keeps abreast of latest substation designs and technology developments
- Ensures oil-devices/transformers are properly disposed of or refurbished
- Develops and document training programs for operation of apparatus devices and electronic panels.
- Ensure effective performance of Radio and telecommunications systems
- Ensures all relays, devices, metering apparatus, and instrument transformers are installed, tested, and maintained according to ANSI standards and manufacturer's requirements. Ensure accurate records are maintained on all equipment.
- Maintains and communicate current knowledge of OT systems changes, procedures, and improvements.
- Maintains a current knowledge of new technology developments.
Budget
- Prepare annual budget.
- Monitor actual expenditures and reduce controllable costs.
Support and Supervision
- Support and provide management with metrics, reports, and schedules as necessary
- Work with a team and report status to senior management
- Handle all aspects of employment for subordinate staff, including hiring positions, training, and termination
- Appropriately document actions in employment issues.
- Monitor performance and conduct performance planning & review sessions.
- Ensure fair & consistent treatment of department employees.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
.
Minimum ten years’ experience in layout, design, or operation of an electrical distribution system.
Knowledge of system protection, sectionalization, and load flow studies.
Thorough knowledge of corporate policies, procedures, construction specifications, and line extension practices.
Knowledge of distribution automation, AMI, SCADA, ADMS, AVL, OMS, CIS, MDM systems.
Knowledge of business intelligence tools, dashboards, and big-data and data-Mart concepts
.
Knowledge of substation design, distribution devices and switchgears.
Experience in implementation of smart grid technologies.
Experience in analyzing Distribution Cost (DCOS) and transmission capacity cost.
Knowledge of disparate methods including Volt-VAR optimization for peak shaving.
Knowledge of IEEE standards to measure power system reliability indices.
Previous supervisory experience.
SKILLS:
Ability to research and implement techniques for substation and distribution automation designs.
Excellent quality control and analytical skills.
Proficient in operating SCADA, AMI, Load Management and Meter Data Management systems.
Proficient in developing and executing switch plans
Experience with load flow analysis tools such as CYME, Mill-Soft etc.
Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills.
Understand, document, and manage Business Process related to Electric Operations
Configuration of reports, and models to support Electric Distribution Business
Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Possess valid Georgia driver’s license.
PREFERRED:
Previous experience in a 24X7 dispatch/control center.
Previous experience in substation design and self-healing grid systems.
