POSITION TITLE: Director, College Access (INTERNAL POSTING)
DEPARTMENT: College Access/Student Services and Enrollment Management
PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Student Services and Enrollment Management
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: College Access staff, including but not limited to full-time unit professionals, as well as part-time staff and student workers as assigned.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Director, College Access provides leadership and administrative direction to the college's early college programming. In collaboration with regional K-12 programs, the Director creates a college-going culture through accessible academic programs and wraparound support services, with a focus on first-generation and low-income students. The Director leads efforts to expand early college programs throughout Bristol County while ensuring successful student outcomes in existing programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partnerships & Strategy
- Oversee program planning and assessment for all early college programming, including but not limited to dual enrollment and contract courses; guided pathways; Career, Vocational, Technical Education (CVTE) programs, and Early College designated programs.
- Develop a comprehensive strategic plan to guide future partnerships with area school districts, including goals, timelines, and key performance indicators.
- Establish strong partnerships with district and high school administrators to engage and inform them about options for early college programming in their schools.
- Facilitate the development of new academic pathways and early college designations, in collaboration with academic deans and high school administration and faculty.
- Collaborate with four-year public institutions in our region to develop and promote transferrable pathways that benefit students.
- Represent the college in the community, ensuring strong relationships with partners and participating in college and community events.
- Create strong relationships with academic deans and faculty who teach dual enrollment and early college courses; provide training and development opportunities to Bristol faculty who teach in these programs.
- Develop and implement internal processes and systems to support the growing infrastructure within College Access.
Enrollment & Student Success
- In collaboration with high school partners, develop a clear recruitment strategy to engage students from underrepresented populations in early college programs.
- Provide training and development to college and high school staff in order to educate students and their families about the benefits of early college programs and to help them select the pathway that best meets their needs.
- Work collaboratively with other areas of the college to develop and oversee implementation of plans and services including but not limited to academic support and tutoring, academic advising, financial aid, and student engagement.
- Develop an integrated admission and enrollment process for early college students, ensuring a seamless transition into a degree program upon high school graduation.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that are student-centered and meet the needs of high school students in a collegiate environment.
Grant Management and Reporting
- Develop grant proposals in concert with the college's Grant Development office, Academic Affairs, and high school partners; serve as Principal Investigator (PI) when appropriate.
- Build, administer, and evaluate grants and other budgets related to programs within College Access; work collaboratively with other departments and staff members whose grants provide resources to College Access.
- Develop and maintain spend-down plans for relevant grants and provide regular updates and reports to the Fiscal Grants Accounting team and the Enterprise Risk Management Committee to ensure proper resource allocation and spending.
- Ensure proper grant reporting; collect data electronically and provide analysis; disseminate reports to external and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Strategic Analytics and Institutional Research to collect, analyze, and report data related to dual enrollment and early college enrollment; provide timely updates to internal constituents of policy, procedures, and process adjustments to programs and grants at the direction of the Department of Higher Education (DHE) and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
Leadership/Administrative
- Hire, supervise, develop, and lead assigned College Access staff. Conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure continuous improvement and identify potential opportunities for growth. Work closely with Human Resources to develop staff capabilities and expectations.
- Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the professional growth of staff while fostering a commitment to service excellence.
- Provide leadership and advocacy for College Access personnel involved in the recruitment and support of underrepresented student populations.
- Participate in college meetings, including but not limited to: SSEM Leadership Team, All-College, All-SSEM, and All-Academic meetings; serve on college governance councils and other committees as assigned.
- Participate in conferences and professional development opportunities as appropriate and conduct research to remain current about the field.
- Participate in a variety of college-wide activities to communicate information on recruitment efforts and results, as well as levels of demand for new and existing programs.
- Use digital communication tools, to include but not limited to; email, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media tools, to advance Bristol's social media outreach and brand to internal and external constituents.

Job Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
- Minimum of a Master's degree in higher education or related field.
- Minimum of four years of experience in a higher education or K-12 environment.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.
- Demonstrated proficiency with student information systems and reporting software.
- The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrated progressive experience in leadership/management level positions throughout career.
- Successful history of collaboration with others across divisions to build effective relationships,?particularly with Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs,Communications, and Information Technology.
- Demonstrated experience managing, reporting and writing grants.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 or related platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required.
- Ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: As of January 2022, candidates for employment should be aware that Community College students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior supervisory experience in a collective bargaining environment.
- Prior experience working at a multi-campus community college.
- Robust understanding and demonstrated inclusion of access, equity and student success practices.
- Demonstrated experience with Banner, Argos, and Slate (or other customer relationship management software).
- Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English (preferably Spanish).

Additional Information:
POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits, some nights and weekends required.
SALARY: Hiring salary $85,000 - $95,000, commensurate with education and experience.
