Partnerships for People, Inc. is seeking Direct Support Specialist to join in the mission of partnering with people with disabilities to help build relationships and develop skills to live and work as valued members of their community.

Responsibilities Include:

  • The Direct Support Specialist will provide assistance during their scheduled shift, as needed (i.e., medication administration, assistance with hygiene, bathroom, shower, mobility etc.).
  • The Direct Support Specialist will assist/teach individuals with morning routines i.e., meal preparation, preparing for work or day programs and/or other activities as needed.
  • Participate in the IHP process for particular individuals if/when needed. Implement and keep abreast of goals and objectives and document progress accordingly.
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments. Communicate with physician and ensure all pertinent medical forms are completed. The Direct Support Specialist as well as the individual will understand the results of the visit and follow up accordingly with future visits and with the Direct Support Manager and Clinical Coordinator.
  • Provide individuals with transportation to and from appointments when needed. Teach those individuals capable of community mobility to access public transportation for maximum independence where applicable.
  • will serve people with developmental disabilities and empower individuals through personal choice, with a focus on teaching community and residential living skills.
  • The Direct Support Specialist will support the Agency's belief regarding empowerment, quality of life, freedom of choice and community integration for all individuals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Valid New Jersey Driver’s License
  • Successfully completion of pre-employment process, including Background check and FBI clearances, MVR, Child Abuse Record Information (CARI) and Drug Testing
