SUMMARY
Provides pick-up and delivery services and clerical support for library system within established guidelines by performing the following duties.
Shift: 20 hours per week M-F
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Regular attendance is required
Drives van to pick up and deliver items to branch libraries, sorting and routing items for delivery
Routes and maintains various rotating collections in the library system
Keeps vehicles and garage area clean
Takes cardboard to recycling center
Willing to cover other shifts when needed
Attends meetings as needed
Implements library policies and procedures to library users and staff
Performs other work as needed
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This is not a supervisory position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Job requires Valid Texas Driver’s License and safe driving record.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers and to employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to operate automobile.
Requires safe driving record.

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

This job takes place in and out of a library van on county roads and streets and within a library environment. The noise level can be noisy while driving on the roads and streets. Inside the libraries the noise level is very low. Outside weather conditions may fluctuate from extremely hot (above 90 degrees) to cold (below 30 degrees.) In outdoor conditions, employee may frequently be exposed to high humidity, hot sun light and/or rain, hazardous road conditions and gasoline fumes. In outdoor conditions, employee may occasionally be exposed to hail, sleet, and/or snow.
SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS/REQUIREMENTS The incumbent in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the County's safety policies and procedures. Ask supervisor for details. Employee must follow safety road signs, maintain safe speed and drive cautiously at all times, paying strict attention to road conditions and maintaining alertness while operating county automobile.
