Decontamin& Transport Asst Job at MEDSTAR HEALTH
Delivers, picks-up and exchanges equipment and supplies to and from nursing units, clinics, MedSTAR or Emergency/Operating Room. Assists with the cleaning and decontamination of equipment and related inventory/stocking, as appropriate.

- Less than 1 year 0 to 6 months experience Required
- basic experience in transporting and knowledge of patient care devices and decontamination methods Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- May require up to l year of technical or other specialized training
- Requires the ability to read and write; and knowledge of grammar, and arithmetic including fractions and decimals
- May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e., typewriter, personal computer, data terminal, on-line printer, calculator, telephone, facsimile, copier, sterilizing equipment, blood pressure cuff, or tables); the preparation, comparison or checking of reports, records and related data; and basic use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings and knowledge of their application.
- Transports exchange and case carts from Sterile Processing to various user departments throughout the hospital.
- Delivers supplies and equipment, e.g. linen, sterile instruments, etc. from Sterile Processing to various departments throughout the hospital, e.g. clinics, ER, OR, etc.
- Takes STAT supplies and equipment to departments.
- Picks-up and transports soiled/bagged supplies from nursing units to Sterile Processing.
- Assists with the cleaning of case, exchange and utility carts in the Decontamination area of Sterile Processing.
- Assists with various processing activities in the Sterile Processing, e.g. wrapping of linen and instruments, laying out/sorting of instruments, etc.
- Transports broken equipment to Biomedical Engineering Department for repairs. Records/logs appropriate data.
- May assist with removing soiled case carts off the elevator from the Main Operating Room and answering telephones, as needed.
- May restock shelves and carts and complete patient kardex to track equipment charges, as appropriate.
