Job Summary:
This position is part of a team of centralized Data Services team consisting of highly technology-driven individuals. The duties of the job require business user interactions, translating user's needs into a solution that may require a thorough understanding of database design and concepts including tables, fields, and relationships. The job often requires sourcing the data, checking and improving the data quality, data transformation, and data migration. At times, this job requires the ability to provide visualization via reports and dashboards. Requires experience with data warehouses and data lakes in various cloud platforms. Should have the ability to review, evaluate, design, implement and maintain company data stores. The position also requires the ability to research and suggest solutions that will address, obscure business problems, when necessary. Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work in an agile work environment.

Job Duties:
  • Develops new applications to meet functional and technical designs. Application development includes data sourcing, data profiling, data transformation and consumption.
  • Fixes and develops changes to applications to meet functional and technical designs following best practices and development standards and guidelines. Changes to applications will include data sourcing, data profiling, data transformation and consumption.
  • Analyzes, debugs and resolves defects in applications. Applications include data stores.
  • Creates deliverables according to the Software Development Lifecycle such as functional and technical specifications, use cases, test cases, and system documentation.
  • Develops and analyzes business intelligence needs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
  • Considerable working knowledge of multiple database management systems, and multiple development platforms
  • Developing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) packages using SQL Server
  • Integration Services, extracting data from disparate data sources - including SQL Server, DB2 and others

Skills of:
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Possess skills to support teams in planning, sizing, prioritizing project activities
  • Possess skills to apply creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met

Ability to:
  • Demonstrated ability to balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams and across organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships inside and outside the organization

Selective Preference(s):
  • MCSA SQL Server or equivalent
  • Certification / Working experience in Azure / Google Cloud Platforms
  • Tableau Desktop Certified Associate Certification

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to S.B.1164.
  • Bachelor’s degree OR 5 or more years of programming and analysis experience (or equivalent experience).
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
  • Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
  • Valid Arizona driver's licenses are required.

In-state travel may be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record for the last 39 months including no DUI, suspension or revocations and less than 8 points on your license. If an Out of State Driver's License was held within the last 39 months, a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required prior to driving for State Business. Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration.

Retirement:
State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State-sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS-defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
