Data Warehouse Engineer
Location: Columbus, OH (northwest area of city) - hybrid
Data Warehouse Engineers are key members of the data team. Their focus on data modeling and data transformation is the foundation of data products that turn data into wisdom.
Things You’ll Do
- Model data. Design dimensional models to enable reports and analyses for internal and external consumers.
- Transform data. Write code that turns source data into a target model.
- Ensure data quality. Specify and author tests that validate the quality of modeled data, to promote consumer confidence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work primarily with data analysts and secondarily with end users/stakeholders to understand needs.
- Achieve sufficient mastery in business verticals to support analysts and end users/stakeholders:
o Domain
o Data
- Model data.
o Dimensional
o Intermediate models that serve consumers like dimensional models.
- Write, test, and support transforms that turn data from one model into another model.
- Write and automate testing that continuously validates the quality of data in models designed and populated by DWE’s.
- Data governance:
o Classify source and target models.
o Map source and target objects to the classification.
- Document models, tooling, and process:
o Written documentation
o Drawings
- Participate in a guild with other data warehouse engineers to identify common challenges and provide common solutions.
