Our Opportunity:

Data Analytics and Insight is responsible for the management and integration of data across Schwab. Our focus is on making data more accessible and available, enabling speed to insight, and ensuring sound governance and data rights, resulting in a robust data environment. Ultimately, we will increase the value of our data and better leverage it to create competitive advantage.

The Data Privacy Program Manager role is a key member of the Data Center of Excellence (DCOE) and reports to the Director of Data Privacy. In this role, the Data Privacy Program Manager will support the continued development of the Data Privacy office at the Firm. This role will work closely with the second line Privacy office in assessing current and potential privacy regulations, as well as first line business partners in any efforts to ensure privacy requirements are understood and met. In addition to regulatory compliance, there should also be a mindset of privacy as a product, by aiding the Firm in demonstration its commitments to clients around privacy and security. Specific areas of focus include data rights and the data inventory of personal information.

What you are good at


  • In conjunction with the Director, aid in the development of the Data Privacy office at the firm. This will involve liaising with other business lines and projects to ensure privacy compliance is met and the service model meets client expectations.
  • Bring an approach of privacy as a product by seeking out opportunities to enhance our service model through finding opportunities to improve communications by making them for client focused, as well as ensuring that initiatives that have a privacy component are aligned with both client expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the second line privacy group in assessing regulatory requirements and making risk-based decisions, ensuring they are incorporated in first line work.
  • Represent the Data Privacy office across a variety of firm wide projects and initiatives.

What you have


  • A strong background in the field of privacy and/or data rights with 4+ years of experience
  • Financial Services background is preferred.
  • Familiarity with key privacy regulations, including GLBA, GDPR, and CCPA, and the CPRA.
  • Familiarity with data management, both structured and unstructured, especially as it pertains to privacy.
  • Familiarity with cookies and other tracking technologies and their impact to privacy.
  • BA/BS (preferred); MBA and/or advanced degree (plus).
  • Strong relationship building abilities and partnership skills working with a variety of business and technical associates, and experience working in a highly virtualized environment with partners distributed in multiple locations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize information and develop recommendations and to lead meetings with all levels of management.
  • Strong problem-solving ability: both business and technical level.
  • Proven ability as a self-starter, showing strong initiative. Comfort with ambiguity, able to effectively take the conceptual to the pragmatic.
  • Very detail oriented, and the ability to multi-task, work efficiently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Sound judgment, planning, project management and organization skills.
  • Change agent mentality and ability to influence outcomes in a complex organizational environment.
