Salary Range: $58,500-$67,100

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Research in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the Division of Neurocritical care at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center spans active clinical trials, epidemiological outcome studies, and signal processing / big data analytics of high-resolution physiological data and other biomarkers. The group applies machine learning tools to better understand the pathophysiology of acute brain injuries with a focus on disorders of consciousness and brain-computer interface development. The Data Coordinator will primarily be responsible for the preparation and support of the analysis of high-resolution data for research studies. Data preparation will include data cleaning and synchronization between the multiple data sources from physiologic data such as EEG and archived data repositories in SQL, EPIC, and REDcap. The data coordinator will also assist as needed with epidemiological studies that depend on complex data querying and applying standard biostatistics.

Responsibilities

A solid programmer (Python, R, SQL / noSQL tools and languages).

Knows exploratory data analysis and visualization techniques and has a working knowledge of machine learning / predictive modeling /hypothesis testing / imputation / variable transformation techniques.

Likes large, noisy datasets, can learn new things quickly, and enjoys interacting with a multidisciplinary research team.

Has the ability to work with teams to develop an analytic plan and then work independently to implement that plan and effectively communicate the results.

The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with clinicians, staff, and other health care professionals.

Able to read, analyze, and interpret information from professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus two years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s in computer science, or mathematical/statistical related field.

Expertise in {statistical) software such as R, Matlab or Python and working knowledge of data management software such as Microsoft Excel.

Experience with SQL / noSQL tools and languages

Strong skills in health services research design, database development and management, and statistical programming required.

Ability to clearly communicate statistical concepts to other scientists and non-scientists.
