GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position supports the Quality department in advancing our data driven culture by designing, developing, and implementing complex dashboards, reports, and visualizations for all departments. The data analyst works with leaders, managers, and staff to determine needs and goals, aims to empower staff with information, and inspire growth, and quality improvement with actionable insights. The position also requires extensive healthcare knowledge in order to analyze, interpret, and summarize report findings for broad use, and assist in quality initiatives such as patient engagement projects.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and an organizational data analysis plan to ensure quality and consistency of reoccurring, and ad-hoc reports and projects.
  • Work independently to collaborate with CHC/SEK leaders and staff to design, automate, and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations, as assigned or developed.
  • Analyze, interpret, trend, and summarize large sets of data and reports to inform quality improvement initiatives through data analysis techniques and a comprehensive knowledge of internal and external healthcare systems.
  • Generate innovative methods to automate reporting systems, and continually strive to improve the reporting feedback loop, visualizations, and actionable presentations of data.
  • Identify and lead efforts to improve or remedy data quality issues including reviewing charts and working with the electronic health record team or other departments to address systematic workflow concerns.
  • Assist in various population health and quality initiatives (e.g. cancer grants/initiatives), and external reporting requirements such as patient centered medical home, HRSA and UDS reporting, and patient engagement opportunities.
  • Participate and/or lead committees and teams as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate Degree in healthcare, statistics, business, or related preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience with data analysis.
  • Proficient in Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with eClinicalworks, BridgeIT, or IBM Cognos, preferred.

  • Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.
  • Must be organized and able to manage/prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, adapts to change in a positive manner, able to work as a part of a team.
  • Communicates through appropriate channels. Use proper chain of command for patient complaints.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Must be computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office products and be proficient with the Electronic Health Record software.
  • Must be able to maintain good inter-personal relationship with co-workers and other members of the health care team and the organization.
  • Provide customer service in accordance to the organization’s mission.
  • Be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to organization’s policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements.

WORKING CONDIITIONS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
