TDI Technologies, Inc. (TDI) is seeking candidates for a Computer Scientist/Engineer position with minimum 2-5 years’ experience building and maintaining computer networks including Linux-based servers with ability to apply a strong work ethic to supporting the development of software and/or control systems. Duties include the configuration and maintenance of multiple enclaves of Ethernet connected computers; enclaves will range in size from 5 to 25 machines. The successful candidate must be able to work independently setup and perform maintenance on a Linux server, to install various operating systems, configure networks, configure firewall rules, maintain configuration details, and coordinate work with others.

Salary Range: $85k - $105k
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Capture and refine information security operational and security requirements, and ensuring those requirements are properly addressed through purposeful architecting, design, development, and configuration.
- Install and configure operating systems (Windows and RedHat Linux), install software, update security patches, update firmware, apply DISA STIGs/security settings, and maintain records configurations
- Serve as point of contact for Linux technical guidance
- Manage and maintain a software development environment hosted on a Linux server
- Majority of system configurations will be executed on assets that do not have an internet connection
- Participate in software testing, both in a lab environment and shipboard
- Work well in a team as well as independently in a lab environment
- Makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems
- Install wide range computer/IT hardware, establish network connections, troubleshoot communication problems
- Maintain current knowledge of information security practices
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer and Information Systems, or Cybersecurity
- Current CompTIA Security+ Cybersecurity Certification
- Current Cybersecurity Certification in one or more of the following: CASP+, CISSP, CCNP Security, GCED, or GCIH
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Systems Administrator
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Systems Administration for US Navy or DoD projects
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience with installing and managing both Windows and Linux operating systems
- Required knowledge of Windows 10 and Microsoft Office
- Proficient knowledge of Linux (preferably RHEL/CentOS)
- Capable of operating in a pure command line environment
- Proficient using bash scripting and Python
- Preferred knowledge of Linux DISA STIGs
- Preferred knowledge of virtualization software such as VMWare or Kernel-Based Virtual Machine (KVM) manager
- Experience implementing security controls, configuration changes, software/hardware updates/patches, vulnerability scanning, and securing configurations.
- Ability to demonstrate effective teamwork experience and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of cybersecurity practices
- Ability to solve complex computer/network/server problems
- Attention to detail and meticulous logging of system configuration, testing, troubleshooting steps, and findings
Travel:
This position may require approximately 5 to 10% travel.
