Uptown Animal Hospital is dedicated to providing excellent and compassionate pet care to our clients in the Gig Harbor community and to the amazing animal healthcare providers we get to work alongside.

Our veterinary hospital offers both general day practice and Urgent Care services 6 days a week. Our team has been hand-selected for their commitment to patient care, their experience, and expertise, their compassionate delivery of service, and dedication to the culture of our practice.

Uptown Animal Hospital has two fully equipped surgical suites, in-house diagnostic laboratory, digital imaging, ultrasonography, a dedicated isolation ward, oxygen capabilities, has established relationships with many boarded specialists (offering their services in-house to our clients), and a very well-stocked pharmacy.

We are amply staffed 7 days a week, and are AAHA accredited, Fear-Free certified (many of our team members), and Cat-Friendly Practice.

Skills Required:

Communication, written and verbal skills are a requirement of this position as our CSRs are responsible for a bulk of our client communication.

Familiarity with multi-line phone systems, Outlook, and Veterinary Practice Management Software (Avimark preferred) will be required.

Scheduling flexibility is a must

Work well in a team setting - this is VERY important as our team always comes first!

Scheduling and coordinating appointments Asking questions!

Candidate must be comfortable seeking answers and relaying information.

Understanding of basic triage process and willingness to learn more!

Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal medical issues.

Ability to remain organized and efficient during periods of high call volume.

Well-spoken and customer service oriented - our clients mean the world to us!

Knowledge of the following software not required but is helpful; Vetstoria, Vetsource, Vet2Pet, Avimark

Able to have fun, remain positive and really enjoy what they do!

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain knowledge of the services the hospital provides and utilizes the information to promote the hospital’s services and products to existing and prospective customers

Welcome clients and pets, ensuring that they are comfortable in the hospital, and educating the clients about preventative care and pet health needs

Assist incoming clients. Document and enter the pet’s history, requested services, and other pertinent information within the practice management software

Direct the flow of clients and pets to ensure superior client care and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team

Answer basic questions from clients on the phone and in person, act as an initial triage to determine patient’s service needs. Refer the patient to the appropriate veterinary staff as needed

Schedule client appointments and follow-up exams. Work with Veterinarian(s) and veterinary staff as needed to ensure optimal scheduling

Assist outgoing clients by providing all necessary instructions, information, and invoices

Dispense prescription items per the Veterinarian's instructions and sells retail products

Responsible for cash management including accepting payments for products and services provided. Perform daily reconciliation of the cash drawer

Respond to customer complaints in a professional, courteous manner and act satisfactorily to resolve the problem

Support a practice environment that promotes collaboration and teamwork to ensure the delivery of quality, compassionate, effective, and efficient health care to pets

Comply with all practice policies, quality assurance guidelines, and minimum standards of care

Perform other duties and projects as requested

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED.

Veterinary experience is preferred.

Required: 2+ years in a Customer Service Representative or Reception role, specifically in a healthcare setting.

Scheduling flexibility is a must - we are seeking weekend, and day shift coverage!
