Custodian Job at North Dakota State Government
Starting Salary: $2,773/month along with an excellent benefit package that includes, health insurance, life insurance, retirement, ten paid holidays, leave benefits and more

Summary of Work
The incumbent for this position will perform custodial/housekeeping duties for the Lodging Section at the Camp Grafton Training Center in Devils Lake, ND. This individual will work under the guidance of the Housing Manager. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Provide consistent custodial services for the chargeable housing units.
2. Observe established safety practices and procedures in working with chemicals, bio-hazards, materials and equipment used by the department.
3. Sweep, mop, scrub floors and other surfaces.
4. Vacuum carpets, mattresses, drapes, change and make the beds. Shampoo carpets in the living quarters.
5. Strip, seal and wax floors. Clean and polish furniture, fixtures and other furnishings.
6. Wash windows, walls, ceilings, woodwork, and other required surfaces as needed.
7. Sanitize and clean restrooms, water fountains and other required surfaces as needed.
8. Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies.
9. Notify supervisor of repairs to buildings, equipment and grounds.
10. Provide security to units by checking for open windows, locking and unlocking of doors as required.
11. In the absence of the Custodial Supervisor, may function as the lead custodian to include training of new temporary custodial employees in their duties and notify the immediate supervisor of any changes.
12. Report all injuries and accidents to your immediate supervisor.
13. Frequent standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing and crouching with requirements to bend, stoop and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions for long periods of time.
14. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
15. Ability to maneuver carpet cleaning machine filled with chemicals weighing up to 200 lbs.
16. Interpersonal communication skills required.
17. Flexible scheduling and ability to work some weekends if needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with one year of custodial or facility maintenance experience with tasks such as vacuuming carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, sanitizing restrooms and fixtures, etc. Successful completion of the interview process, reference checks and background investigation.
