Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily: Empty trash, replace liners, Clean Whiteboards, Check Classroom clock for proper time and operation, Wipe down, Clean and disinfect Classroom tables, Sweep, dust, and mop floors, Wall to wall Vacuum, Clean and disinfect Restrooms (twice daily, minimum), Spot check Restrooms ( 3-4 times daily), Re-stock paper products, hand soap and sanitizers as required, Clean and disinfect Drinking Fountains (twice daily, minimum), Wipe down and disinfect “Touch points” (doors, doorknobs, push bars, hand rails), Wipe down and disinfect Furniture and tables in Common areas and hallways, Spot clean interior glass, Spot clean, doors, walls, Check exterior entrances, pick up trash, empty exterior trash cans and cigarette bins as needed, Exterior grounds maintenance as needed, (sweep/blow leaves, pick up trash) and Event set ups and tear down as required;
- Weekly or As Needed: Carpet Spot or stain removal ( also upholstered Chairs), Full cleaning of interior glass ( large areas can be a group project), Clean trash receptacles, Wipe down window ledges and dust blinds, Clean, dust or Vacuum air supply and return vents, High dusting (light fixtures, T V, Projector);
- Monthly: Break times (no classes) Project work, Machine Scrub floors, Burnish Floors and carpets, Scrub and recoat floors, Strip and wax floors, Full Carpet extraction, Deep cleaning of Classroom and Common area chairs & furniture.
Under direct supervision, responsible for the cleaning and custodial care of buildings and working areas. Primary responsibility is for the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and otherwise caring for building areas. Follows a well established routine. Performance is evaluated by periodic inspection of work areas. Frequently reports to a Custodian Supervisor.
Classification Standard Duties
Dusts and mops floors. Vacuums carpets. Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies. Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and/or supplies. Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal. Locks doors after cleaning areas. May supervise the work of employees in supporting roles, including assigning workload and monitoring employee performance. May change light bulbs as directed. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Maintains adequate supplies for the day-to-day needs of custodial staff. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge
Knowledge of custodial practices, machinery, and related equipment. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
Skills
Skilled in the performance of the duties outlined above.
Abilities
Ability to understand verbal instructions. Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Ability to lead and train staff and/or students. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
Required Education
None
Required Experience
Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
Equivalency Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services. Preferred Qualifications Required Certification/License Special Requirements Other Departmental Requirements
