The CVO (Credentials Verification Organization) provides client specific credentialing services to internal divisions and contracted external clients. The Credentialing Specialist position is responsible for data entering, gathering, and primary source verification of healthcare practitioner information, which includes in-depth, detailed, or challenging research of information. Primary methods of researching information include phone, fax, e-mail, and letters.
Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the CVO team
  • Log and assign received files into the appropriate intake spreadsheets
  • Assist with Ad hoc or “one off” verifications for team
  • Maintain archive files for team
  • Be a subject matter expert for assigned credentialing functions
  • Data enters assigned files into credentialing database
  • Prepares monthly invoices/reports as requested
  • Mails, e-mails, faxes, and calls for verification requests to the appropriate primary sources (e.g., hospitals, licensing boards, etc.) to gather and verify healthcare practitioner information
  • Researches verification information via the internet and other electronic databases and enters into credentialing database
  • Contacts primary sources/clients for missing information identified during the credentialing process
  • Enters researched and/or corrected information into the credentialing database
  • Reviews and organizes files for accuracy and completeness in preparation for auditing
  • May audit assigned credentialing files for accuracy and completeness
  • Delivers audited files to internal and external clients that can be reviewed by a client’s credentials committee
  • Attend and actively participate in CVO team meetings and functions as well as customer meetings/whiteboards, when applicable
  • Maintains positive relationships with clients, sources, and vendors as needed to assist with the process of credentialing requests
Qualifications
  • Demonstrate clear, concise and effective phone, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate strong computer, typing, and data entry skills: includes MS Word, Excel and database
  • Detail oriented with ability to recognize vital information from verification documents
  • Possess proof-reading skills sufficient for auditing documents
  • Ability to prioritize well and meet overlapping deadlines
  • Demonstrate problem-solving, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning skills
  • Ability to consistently maintain quality and production expectations
  • Ability to interact, communicate and correspond with professionals and professional organizations
Experience & Education
  • Must have two years of credentialing or equivalent work experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • High level of customer service and/or phone experience
Preferred Skills
  • Have a basic knowledge of NCQA and Joint Commission standards and healthcare staffing knowledge
  • Ability to learn and use credentialing database and other related databases
  • Ability to obtain information via the Internet
  • Ability to follow instructions and use time productively
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a highly functional team environment
  • Ability to effectively manage customer service issues and maintain client base
