Summary
TheaterWorksUSA (TWUSA) is seeking an experienced Costume Stitchers for our costume shop. Since 1961 we have been a trailblazer in the not-for-profit theater industry with our repertoire of 141 literature–and history-based plays and musicals playing a leading role in the rise of theater for young audiences as an art form. We are proud to say that 100 million children, educators, and families have joined us at the theater to enjoy titles ranging from classics like CHARLOTTE'S WEB and FREEDOM TRAIN to contemporary favorites like DOG MAN: THE MUSICAL and THE LIGHTNING THIEF: THE PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL.
Compensation and Location:
Winter '22: December 19, 2022 - January 14, 2023
Spring '23: January 23, 2023 - March 25, 2023
This position is part-time hourly paid at $20.00/hour. Applicant must be local to the metro- NYC area and able to report to work in midtown New York City. Flexible hours available. Overtime pay provided when over 40hrs.
Most hours Monday – Friday but weekend hours available and needed as well.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Costume Shop Supervisor and will be responsible for the following:
- Alterations and fixes including both hand sewing and machine sewing
- Fabric Distressing and Painting
- Assist with load-ins and loadouts of costumes between costume shop, storage, rehearsal studios, and tour vehicles
- Organization and documentation of designs and fittings
- Comfortable with Industrial machines
- Occasional shopping as needed
- Other duties as assigned
A successful candidate will be:

- Knowledge, interest, and passion for theater for young and family audiences.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Teams is a plus.
