Description
The Kentucky Department of Parks is seeking an experienced and motivated team player with a passion for delivering exceptional guest service as our newest Cook I at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park. The Resort has 24 lodge rooms, 13 cottages, dining room, meeting room, 18-hole golf course, campground, mini golf, hiking trails, and excellent recreational opportunities.
The Resort Park situated in Christian County is one of the premier lodging and dining facilities in Kentucky. You will work with the kitchen team and other park staff in providing exceptional guest services to the thousands of guests who visit this park throughout the year. As a Cook I, you will be a key member of our team in the kitchen providing excellent customer service delivery to every visitor.

As a Cook I, you will be a key member of our team in the kitchen providing excellent customer service delivery to every visitor.
Job Duties:
- Bakes, roasts, broils and fries meat, fish and fowl for large groups of people.
- Mixes and cooks specialty dishes and delicate foods.
- Seasons foods by taste test and recipe.
- Maintains records of food used and supply on hand.
- Figures food cost and records on daily food cost sheet.
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas.
- Insures proper storage of food.
- Experience with front line cooking.
- Experience cooking for buffets.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent grooming standards.
- Willingness to work a variety of shifts/hours based on guest needs.
- Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations.
- Ability to work on your own or in teams.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: NONE
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of cooking experience in an institutional or large scale commercial setting.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational training in food service will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
