How Is This Role Important to Our Work?
This position supports field sales activity and participates in the growth of new enrollment for the consumer markets segment. This position develops and maintains relationships via the telephone, community meetings, and other field based activities in order to promote and improve the sales of all Blue Cross and ancillary line consumer markets segment products. This position will be serving the following Counties: Becker, Beltrami, Cass, Clay, Clearwater, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Red Lake, Polk, Rosseau, Wadena.
A Day in the Life:
  • Meets sales and sales development goals as assigned by management. Delivers presentations to groups/individuals to support, educate or enroll into appropriate BCBSMN plans.
  • Increases the sale of company products through determining suitability, eligibility and need; explains benefits for appropriate coverage, responds to questions, supplies relevant marketing material and assists with the application process.
  • As available, responsible for answering and following up on incoming sales calls and emails from prospective customers generated by marketing campaigns. Uses lead tracking software to manage prospective enrollee database. Initiates sales calls to individuals who have responded to advertising and direct mail campaigns. Identify contacts/partnerships for community events and targeted community outreach.
  • Follows all Federal, State, and CMS regulations and laws and BCBSMN compliance guidance.
  • Meets individually with prospective enrollees upon request.
  • Remains knowledgeable of competitor health plans available in our market to be able to effectively position BCBSMN individual consumer products. Analyzes benefit trends, the effectiveness of marketing materials and advertising campaigns, as well as make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the department.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business customer to contribute to attainment of sales goals. Participates in developing annual sales plan in order to positively impact sale strategy as it relates to a strong community sales presence.

Required Skills and Experiences:
  • 4+ years related experience or Bachelor’s degree. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Must be creative, innovative and have excellent listening skills.
  • Residency in one of the Minnesota counties of service noted above.
  • Self starter with the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and follow through on sales process steps.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Sales competence.
  • Positive attitude with the desire to embrace and promote teamwork.
  • Possess or ability to acquire MN Resident Producer License in the lines of Life & Health/ Accident with in 60 days of starting.
  • Reliable transportation for attending all in-person meetings and presentations, and valid driver's license and auto insurance if driving self
  • Overnight travel on occasion

Role designation definition: Teleworking is working full time remote. Hybrid is a combination of working onsite and remotely. Onsite is full-time onsite.
