Computational Biology Associate,

Xibus Systems Inc. is combining protein engineering, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence to develop the next generation food testing assays. Food testing is a multibillion-dollar industry addressing a public health problem, food waste inefficiencies, and societal sustainability. This groundbreaking technology was developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the laboratory of Professor Tim Swager.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Associate to join our dynamic, highly interdisciplinary, and collaborative team. The main responsibility is testing our XiSafe™ assay, maintaining our prototype systems, and assisting in the development of the next generation assay readers. The second priority is to use our AI model to analyze the assay, to assist in the improvement, and development of next generation AI models. This position provides an outstanding training and product development opportunity by working closely with discovery scientists across disciplines to advance the new methodology and to disrupt the microbial detection industry.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct experiments involving bacterial detection and optimization of our testing technology, record and analyze data, present results at team meetings
  • Maintain and improve our prototype assay readers and instrument control software including interacting with consultants and vendors
  • Run and optimize a machine learning pipeline for analysis of the assay and work with computer scientists to create the second-generation AI models
  • Assist with microscopy (fluorescence, DIC), flow cytometry, microfluidics

What you have:

  • Curiosity about biology/chemistry and their interface with instrumentation and software; with strong problem-solving skills using logic, knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a close knit team to contribute to company culture and technological advancement of the company
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, data science, or related area of study and a minimum of 2 years laboratory experience
  • Experience working under BSL2 standards is required
  • Basic knowledge in python and linux required
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning models, particularly computer vision, is a plus

Pay: $65,000.00 - $92,604.79 per year
