The Compliance and Privacy Analyst will work as part of the Compliance and Privacy team to ensure healthcare laws, regulations, and Health Quest corporate policies and guidelines are met.
Responsibility I - Corporate Compliance/Privacy
1. Provides support to the SVP Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit & Privacy and Director Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit & Privacy in order to ensure the efficient flow of information from and within the department and performs project work as assigned
2 Enters compliance activities into ComplyTrack database; as well as develops and generates reports from the software.
3. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President Compliance, Internal Audit & Privacy, develops, implements, promotes and maintains compliance and privacy policies and procedures relevant to the System and/or the affiliate.
4. Ensures delivery of corporate compliance, privacy and security training, orientation, and education programs for all employees, volunteers, and affiliated providers throughout the affiliate.
5.Under the direction of the Senior Vice President Compliance, Internal Audit & Privacy oversees internal and external monitoring and auditing procedures related to detecting potential non-compliance. If non-compliance is detected, recommends a solution and follows up to ensure that appropriate and timely corrective actions are taken.
6.Coordinates with affiliate Human Resources to implement appropriate sanctions for failure to comply with corporate policies and procedures, including privacy.
7. Assists the Senior Vice President Compliance, Internal Audit &Privacy with the preparation of the annual compliance plan for the affiliate, ensuring that privacy and compliance risks are adequately addressed
8. Maintains the databases used by the Compliance/Audit department. These databases include but are not limited to: MediRegs, Sanction Check and MCN / Ellucid.
9. The Compliance & Privacy Analyst
will serve as System Administrator (SA) for each database. In the SA role the Coordinator will grant user access and privileges, ensure that users are initially trained on each database, ensure that software upgrades are installed, create data files, monitor the workflow of the data files to ensure that complete and accurate documentation is maintained, and produce periodic reports required for the operation of the Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit & Privacy department.
10. On a monthly, or as requested/required, the Senior
Compliance & Privacy Analyst will perform checks of the Federal Lists of Excluded Individuals using Sanction Check or other Compliance software tools. Reports will be compiled and maintained for Compliance and, provided upon request.
11. Complete Compliance and Privacy projects as requested. These projects will include the annual collection of Conflict of Interest Disclosures, development and planning of Compliance training sessions.
12. Performs departmental risk assessments and assists the Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit & Privacy Manager in developing auditing, monitoring, and oversight processes related to identified risks. Prepares for and perform reviews assessing compliance with program related regulations.
13. Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President of Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit & Privacy the Compliance & Privacy Analyst
14. Assists the Senior Vice President of Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit & Privacy with the collection of documentation needed for externally generated audits (including any related to the Office of Civil Rights privacy violations) including development of the response. Evaluates the sufficiency of the data and the response, follows up on insufficient responses, summarizes the data and prepares the response for review and approval prior to submission and, ensures that the response is issued within designated timeframe.
15. Promotes standardization of audit processes across HQ and ensures that the tools and/or software utilized are compliant with State and Federal Regulations and meet the educational, operational and financial needs of HQ.
16. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President of Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit & Privacy, provide support for financial, operational, and compliance audits including audits related to physician documentation, coding and billing.
Education and Certification
: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Certified Healthcare compliance (CHC) and/or Certified Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) preferred.
Experience:
Knowledge of health care compliance programs and guidance, healthcare reimbursement, third party payer guidelines, general coding and billing practices and other regulations. Knowledge of information privacy laws, access, release of information, and release control technologies. Minimum three years of health care industry experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
Extensive Report Development experience & Policy & Procedure development experience
Knowledge of Health Care Regulatory standards
Excellent Analytical, Written, & Oral Communications skills
Experience in Public Speaking and Business Presentations
Excellent Spreadsheet, Internet, Power Point, & Word processing skills
