Job Summary
The Community and Staff Engagement Director is a key role for the Y Social Impact Center (YSIC) at the Y of Greater Seattle, reporting to the Senior Executive of Operations and joining the Research and Administration team, responsible for overseeing the vast and increasing community engagement opportunities and needs specific to YSIC, leading strategic planning efforts for increasing YSIC staff retention and engagement, and supporting senior leadership administrative needs. Community and staff collaborations and engagement efforts, include but are not limited to, supporting the YSIC Advisory Board, YSIC Senior Leadership Team and YSIC Leadership Team, working closely with Y of Greater Seattle department teams (i.e. Philanthropy, Equity and Justice, Human Resources, and Marketing/Social Media), supporting planning and preparation for events and meetings, as well as playing a leadership role in researching and strategic planning with YSIC leaders for increasing staff retention and engagement across all programs and teams.

Hiring Range: $76,960 – 84,656/yr
Salary range: $76,960 – 115,440/yr
Responsibilities:
- Leads and coordinates YSIC specific community engagement opportunities for/with community partners, YSIC participants and families, YGS branches, and YSIC staff, including preparing and sending monthly newsletters, fielding volunteer inquires, connecting donors to program staff, coordinating holiday giving events, managing YSIC social media, and representing YSIC in the community at tabling events.
- Main point of contact for engagement support and needs for staff, volunteers/interns, board members, and community partners.
- Develops relationships with corporate partners and communicates frequently with community members, including Y branches, and YSIC program staff for donation drives, community events, and volunteer opportunities.
- Develops strategic plan for increasing retention for YSIC staff, which includes researching best practices and strategies, collecting and reviewing data from HR, collaborating with YSIC leaders, presenting data and sharing strategies with YSIC Leadership Team, supporting onboarding and orientation efforts of new staff, and leading opportunities for YSIC staff to build connections and rapport increasing morale and engagement.
- Collaborates with YSIC Leadership Team members, and specifically with Program Directors/Program Leads on specific projects associated with programs they oversee. Attends and participates in YSIC Leadership Team meetings.
- Provides administrative leadership and support to the YSIC executive leadership and to the YSIC advisory board, which includes but is not limited to scheduling, planning and coordination of meetings and events, onboarding new board members, tracking board fundraising engagement, taking minutes.
- Provides administrative leadership and support for YSIC donations and fundraising efforts. Includes event coordination, record-keeping, materials production, and thank you communication.
- Supports YSIC Administrative team with onboarding new hires, ensuring a positive and productive experience.
- Supports program staff with administrative needs in the onboarding of volunteers and interns.
- Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures and processes associated with planning and organizing community engagement opportunities for YSIC.
- Collaborates with Y of Greater Seattle Centers of Excellence on behalf of YSIC, specifically with but not limited to Marketing, Fund Development, Human Resources, and Equity and Justice teams.
- May hire, train, and supervise assigned staff and volunteers to ensure proper business functions are completed in accordance with all guidelines.
- Collaborates with Human Resources on requesting and tracking data related to YSIC strategic goals.
- Other related duties as needed.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years’ college or relevant training/education experience in a related field (administration, business management, community engagement, project management, leadership, leadership management). All applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
- Five or more years of related experience including customer service, office management, administrative assistance, community engagement, volunteer management, event planning, program development, strategic planning, etc.
- Ability to work independently and within a team approach.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to details, timeliness, and follow-through.
- The ability to work well within a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. Responsive to quick turnaround times and able to manage multiple deadlines.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
- Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers
- Understanding and/or experience of government grants
