JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Community Development Coordinator designs, manages, and overseas community development relationships for Lenawee County Government. This person serves as a liaison between community partners, organizations, Administrator's Office and the Board of Commissioners. The Community Development Coordinator is responsible for managing relationships with community members, organizations, and relevant stakeholders; providing regular updates, and flagging potential challenges and opportunities within all County districts.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is performed under the general supervision of the County Administrator
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervision is exercised over direct community development staff
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (These examples do not include all of the tasks which an employee may be expected to perform).

Create, manage and maintain an administrative process for tracking data, such as but not limited to, Landbank Authority, housing disparities, and community economic standing
Promote the mission of the Land Bank Authority (LBA( in communities and stimulate new opportunities for collaboration
Communicate progress and challenges within community development to stakeholders and the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with community leaders and the general public
Manage and facilitate regular meetings with community members, stakeholders, and community partners
Develops new strategic initiatives that could be built around existing or new partnerships
Contributes to organizational resource development activities including grant sourcing and writing assistance, and identifying potential resources to help support specific community engagement actives
Supervises staff to ensure programs are being carried out effectively, including housing rehabilitation, neighborhood revitalization, and redevelopment activities for the County as a whole
Collaborate in developing infrastructure to support business and community growth and expansion
Functions as a liaison with various local, state and federal agencies, coordinating projects with agencies as deemed necessary and appropriate
Coordinate and collaborate with organizations and other entities working on housing stock
Assist in the research on housing needs in order to identify ways to improve housing conditions in the country
Lead outreach efforts to encourage participation in community development projects

DESIRABEL EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and/or QUALIFICATIONS: An employee in this class, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following training and experience.

Graduation with a Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Social Work, Economic Development or a closely related field
Five (5) years experience involving the development and coordination of public information or community outreach or involvement programs
Excellent spoken and written communication skills
Knowledge of supervisory and managerial methods and principles
Familiarity of government, private business, and nonprofit operations
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and deal courteously and tactfully with other government agencies and general public

PHYSICAL ABILITY
This job requires frequent sitting and standing; significant public speaking and listening. This position will entail walking, possible lifting of up to 30 pounds, occasional gripping or feeling with hands; typing/repetitive movement and occasional stooping and kneeling.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee within both an indoor and outdoor environment. This position also requires some evening meetings.
