General Responsibilities
The performance of a variety of duties to support the Loan Processing department in the documentation of Commercial and Small Business Loans. Applicants should possess a general understanding of commercial and small business lending and Finastra LaserPro documentation software. The ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments in a fast paced environment is a necessity.
Essential Duties
Work directly with the Commercial Administrative staff, Lenders, Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts to gather and verify information for loan closings:
- Verify loan has been approved according to the Bank’s loan policy
- Verify LTV is within guidelines
- Verify entity ownership for Beneficial Ownership
- Verify accuracy of collateral information and that supporting collateral documents are obtained such as Appraisals, searches, title work, insurance, flood certificates, insurance, etc.
- Utilize websites and other search engines such as county and state websites and tracking vendors to ensure current information is being utilized for loan closings
- Determine, calculate and verify fees associated with loan closings
- Input all Commercial and Small business loans into the documentation software including attorney documented loans in order for the loan to be uploaded to the core systems post-closing
- Verify and complete all CRA/HMDA information in documentation software as necessary for quarterly reporting
- Review externally prepared (attorney-prepared) loan documentation for accuracy
- Request any changes or corrections needed to the documentation
- Produce additional internal software documents needed in addition to the attorney-prepared loan documents for loan closings
- Assist the Post-Closing Loan Processors in ensuring the documentation received once the loan has closed is complete, present, accurate, dated and signed
- Follow up with Commercial Administrative staff, Lenders and Portfolio Managers with regards to any incomplete or outstanding documentation
- Assist with tracking in core system for collateral, exceptions, insurance and outstanding items (as necessary)
- Assist with the setup of customers in the core system (as necessary)
- Maintenance of customer records (as necessary)
- Prepares and/or reviews Commercial and Small business loan modifications and any supporting documentation needed for the modification
- Processes the executed modifications with Loan Servicing
- Process HMDA Reportable withdrawn/approved not accepted or declined Commercial and Small business loans
- Process Adverse Actions Notices for declined Commercial and Small business loans
- Assist in training of future Commercial Loan Processors (as necessary)
Education/Training: A high school diploma or equivalent; specialized loan processing education/training.
Skill(s): Must demonstrate strong communication skills; proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; moderate interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and knowledge of lending software; moderate knowledge of loan documentation and requirements for completion; proficient in all phases of loan documentation and processing for small business/commercial, residential, and consumer transactions; visual and auditory skills.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in related loan processing positions normally required.
