About This Role:
Self-Help is seeking a Commercial Credit Officer to join our team in making a variety of commercial loans that have broad economic development impact and focus (e.g., small business, commercial real estate, nonprofit facilities, healthy food systems, public charter school, faith-based, and multifamily housing).Learn more about the position and our lines of business at https://www.self-help.org/careers.A successful candidate will have solid background in commercial lending, strong analytical skills, project management skills, a focus on teamwork, and a commitment to customer service.
A senior position that includes people management is also available depending upon the candidate’s experience.
In This Role, You Will:
- Advise and collaborate with teammates to structure, analyze, and underwrite credit requests that will advance Self-Help’s mission.
- Provide critical, objective review of credit requests to ensure consistency with Self-Help’s credit policies.
- Approve credit requests within delegated credit authority or prepare teammates for presenting requests to Self-Help’s credit committee.
- Contribute to credit coaching and training of other staff members on due diligence teams.
- Senior position will also manage other credit officers and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to achieve team goals and provide opportunities for career advancement.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s OR equivalent related experience; Graduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, City Planning, Public Policy or Law, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of related experience in commercial lending, finance or community development required.
- High level of emotional intelligence in support of a collaborative work culture.
- Ability to adapt quickly within a growing environment and help others to do the same.
- Strong quantitative/credit analysis skills and attention to detail to provide critical assessment of credit requests.
- Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and project management skills.
- Experience managing, coaching, and developing teammates.
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks to effectively manage workload.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 5% and occasionally work on a flexible schedule.

Salary Range*: $90,400-$135,600 (Fresno), $91,200-$136,800 (Bakersfield), $97,000-$143,808 (Pomona), $97,000-$143,808 (San Diego), $97,000-$143,808 (South Los Angeles), $98,700-$143,808 (Vallejo), $110,500-$143,808 (San Francisco)
