Coding Compliance Manager Job at Signify Health
How will this role have an impact?
The Coding Compliance Manager is responsible for providing subject-matter expertise on professional, risk adjustment coding compliance. This role is responsible for ensuring that coding conforms to generally accepted professional standards such as the Official Coding Guidelines for Coding and Reporting approved by the American Hospital Association, the American Health Information Management Association, CMS, and NCHS. In addition, the position ensures that the Signify coding program aligns with industry standards as well as standards set by clients. The manager works closely with CDI and Coding leadership to maintain coding guidelines that reflect coding best practices and RADV compliance. The manager oversees client coding audits of coded evaluations, ensures that results are reflective of Signify's coding guidelines, collaborates with the client to complete these audits, and works to ensure that we meet all contractual obligations. The position oversees employees and requires extensive interaction and collaboration with physicians, departmental
leadership, operational leadership, clients and staff.

What will you do?
- Act as a key member of the Coding department assisting all Coding workforce and leadership.
- Maintains subject matter expertise of risk adjustment coding requirements.
- Monitors and oversees implementation of regulatory changes and serves as a resource to the Coding and Clinical Documentation staff.
- Takes primary responsibility for preparing support for client audits. Works collaboratively with Client Services to meet delivery dates and assists in the finalization of all audits
- Communicates effectively during external client audits.
- Provides appropriate support and communication for coding practices during client audit calls.
- Provides ad hoc training support to Coding and Audit staff, while leveraging subject matter expertise as it pertains to improving coding compliance. Duties may include producing training materials and planning interactive working sessions with Coding and Audit staff members.
- Communicates timely and effectively with the Sr. Director of Coding and CDI regarding issues.
with the health risk assessments/evaluations and/or corrections required to the health risk assessments/evaluations. - Works closely with Clinical Documentation management to coordinate coding compliance oversight as well as Technology/Clinical Leadership in completion of workflow enhancements, changes and new products.
- Consistently improves the internal control environment by promoting responsiveness and accountability for coding compliance.
- Leverages system quality reports to identify trends as they may relate to opportunities for improving Coding accuracy, completeness, specificity, and appropriateness, while providing regular quality feedback reports to all internal Coding resources.
- Demonstrates a commitment to integrating coding compliance standards into coding practices.
Identifies, corrects and reports coding problems. - Responsible for the development and updates to coding compliance policies and coding guidelines, in collaboration with other Coding and CDI leaders
- Contributes coding subject matter expertise and support to cross-functional initiatives and projects
- Completes special projects as assigned by management which require defining problems and determining required changes
- Follows all legal and policy requirements for HIPAA protected data
- Actively demonstrates teamwork and leadership at all times

We are looking for someone with:
- Coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC in good standing
- Extensive ICD-10 proficiency
- Expertise in CMS risk adjustment coding and RADV compliance standards
- CRC preferred (or required within 12 mos)
- Minimum 3-5 years of risk adjustment coding, auditing, and management experience working and interacting with CDI, Coding, and Auditing teams Significant experience in public speaking/presentations with customer service orientation
