CNC Programmer/Machinist Job at Kennco Manufacturing
Kennco Mfg., Inc. is a 49-year-old company that manufactures farming equipment and fabricates metal components for customers throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. We are in Ruskin, Fl. which is located right off of I-75 about 30 minutes from North Tampa and South Bradenton/Sarasota.
Advanced CNC Machinist/Programmer
Kennco has a small machine shop that makes internal parts and components as well as job shop work, and runs of parts for outside customers. This role needs to have a diverse machining background and ability to multitask.
Due to the diverse nature of our machining work and equipment our machine shop team members must be versed in manual equipment as well as CNC equipment and be able to produce quality parts in large quantity as well singles or small quantities.
For our Advanced CNC Machinist/Programmer additional knowledge and skills are required:
Skills/Requirements:
· Demonstrated ability to translate all engineering drawing requirements to develop CNC programs.
· Demonstrated ability to program, setup and operate a variety of CNC machining processes including milling, turning and grinding equipment.
· 5+ years’ experience CNC multi-axis machining, tool/fixture design and process development
· Experience using FeatureCAM, and working on Okuma and Mazak a plus.
· STRONG understanding of G code and ability to read/write in it.
· VERY experienced in set-up and operations of CNC Machines
· A demonstrated thorough understanding of a variety of CNC machining operations including milling, turning
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
· Experience using a variety of machine equipment and procedures
· Experience using electrical and manual tools (saws, grinders, drills, etc)
· Knowledge of shop and Machine safety standards and use of protective gear and clothing
· Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and across departments (engineering, sales, management, team members, etc)
· Ability to effectively communicate with non-Kennco employees: Contractors, machine repair techs, tooling vendors, etc.
· Ability to complete tasks and assignments within allotted times
· Ability to multitask and work without excessive supervision
· Must be dependable and capable for working overtime hours when necessary
· Forklift Experience
· Personal tools required – Micrometers, hand tools, dial calipers, etc.
Responsibilities:
· Setup, change tooling, and build fixtures when necessary
· Operate machines to perform different jobs on conventional CNC lathe and vertical milling machines
· Perform first article inspection and subsequent in process inspections using necessary gauges to verify parts are to print.
· Read prints and drawings, take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
· Translate engineering drawing and requirements into dimensions for production
· Provide data and times to quote job shop and customer specific jobs. Times and data (tools, material, special considerations) should be provided that any current Machine Shop employee could run the job within the times provided.
· Develop/Write/Edit programs for CNC jobs using our software FeatureCAM, Mazatrol, or using Gcode on the machine directly.
· Setup machines to perform different jobs on conventional and CNC machines.
· Ensure the CNC machine operates in accordance with the guidelines of the company.
· Check machinery on a daily basis to guarantee functionality.
· Communicate any machine issues to management and provide recommendations for addressing them.
· Perform general maintenance on machines.
· Communicate to management via email any issues that arise in making a part.
· Review job priority list given down by management and provide direct and specific feedback regarding needs for processing jobs. I.e., Material not received, or not useable, need for tools, or suggestions for reprioritizing if/when efficiencies and be improved.
· Ability to successfully collaborate with network of team members (sales/engineering/management/team members) to facilitate completion of assignments.
· Must occasionally guide and train machine shop employees when asked to by management, or team member.
