COVID Vaccines are required . Within 30 days of employment, you must complete the initial vaccine series for either Pfizer or Moderna for most positions. POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Clinic Receptionist DEPARTMENT: Health Services
RESPONSIBLE TO: Clinic Nurse (RN/LPN)
RESPONSIBLE FOR: N/A
JOB SUMMARY: Perform administrative tasks to support the clinical staff to ensure the efficiency of practices/processes.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
- High school or GED, some college if applicable.
- Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aide and AED certification.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Support the mission and purposes of SVWC.
- Support the Board of Trustees and Administration.
- Present a professional, caring, and supportive image.
- Employment and annual Tuberculosis screening as required by Virginia State Licensure.
- Must have completed an initial COVID-19 vaccination series at least 14 days prior to employment.
- Must attend mandatory in-services required by the State Licensure and all other mandatory in-services and/or meetings required by other regulatory agencies and/or by SVWC.
- Promote positive language and culture change understanding for all older adults.
- Follow and support the policies and procedures established by SVWC.
- Maintain professional appearance by adhering to dress code and being neatly groomed.
- Adhere to professional standards of ethics at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for answering phones and putting messages into Mirco EMR, scheduling appointments, or canceling of appointments for doctor. Scheduling for nurse visits/ annual assessments.
- Posts monthly TB screenings for employees.
- Filing, and copying of papers
- Reviews SARA list daily for low batteries for IL residents/calling residents needing changed.
- Inventory of clinic supplies to stock.
- Checking in for doctor/nurse appointments.
- Checking in medications from pharmacy/ call residents and floors with medications.
- Practices effective communication techniques with residents, visitors and coworkers.
- Transports and escorts residents.
- Documents care as necessary.
- Keeps equipment clean, reports housekeeping and maintenance needs.
- Attends staff development activities to improve knowledge and skills
- Exhibits good understanding of department dress code as evidenced by neat, professional appearance.
- Remains flexible to cover needs of patients.
- Works independently.
- Arrives to work on scheduled time of arrival.
- Provides proper notification for absence and/or tardiness.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITY: To make decisions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the facility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

VISION
- Must be able to visually identify and discern printed words on either typewritten pages or computer screen.
- Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.
- Must have depth perception within normal ranges.
HEARING
- Must be able to respond to spoken words and other auditory sounds including the ringing of telephone or beepers and monitors.
- Must be able to respond and communicate orally by telephone.
LIFTING
- Must be able to bend, reach and lift patients with assistance to transport them to stretchers/wheelchairs.
- Heavy lifting required (over 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds repetitively from ground level to shoulder height).
- Must be able to push and maneuver carts/stretchers/space saver, etc. loaded with weights of 200 pounds.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
- Must be able to use, operate and interpret information from equipment in work area.
SPEECH
- Must be able to verbally communicate in the English language directly and over the telephone and be understood.
RANGE OF MOTION
- Must be able to kneel or squat for 1 hour of an 8 hour shift.
- Must be able to walk continually for 8 hours.
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours straight.
- Must have mobility for all parts of the body, walking, bending, lifting, reaching above head and use of hands.
- Must have manual dexterity, fine motor skills (typing, computer, etc.)
- Some tasks may require sitting for 40% of the workday.
- Must be able to stand and /or mobilize by walking for 100% of a 8 hour shift.
