Job Purpose

Under nominal direction, the Clinical Coordinator provides support to all clinical administrative issues and interventions. The Clinical Coordinator works in collaboration with the Program Department, including Human Resources/Professional Development, when necessary. The Clinical Coordinator maintains first line assessment with regard to mental health needs of referred students, incident reports, and is a member of the Risk Management Team. The primary responsibility of the Clinical Coordinator is to triage the mental health needs of students referred to the Clinical Team by site coordinators. This includes assessing the need and deciding on the appropriate course of action which may include providing individual counseling, group counseling, or referring out to an appropriate community resource. All actions require appropriate clinical documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive, screen and process campus incident reports (IR), sharing with RMT for feedback and responding in a timely manner for official follow up. Maintain IR logs, interventions and notes, inclusive of campus correspondence and follow up.
  • Collaborate with training staff in providing clinical component trainings, mediation, family/parenting engagement, motivational interviewing, crisis management, in large all staff and small cluster settings.
  • Maintain licensure and attend external clinical training no less than twice per year, inclusive of ethics, mental health first aid and various intervention strategies.
  • Provide best practice curriculum design elements to core service components, ensuring direct service framework.
  • Provide clinical case record review and/or clinical case consultation to assigned clusters during cluster meetings.
  • Provide support to the Director of Clinical Programming regarding direct services and how they relate to research, staffing needs, staff training, and grant development. Extend research to campus visits and staff dialogues regarding trends in presentation and practice.
  • Work in collaboration with the Program department in addressing emergency crisis response to community outreach and needs assessments.
  • Assist Executive and Clinical Team in crafting education policy intervention and reform research papers, potential publications, and practice to support grant development and solicitations.
  • Represent CISDR in partnerships and external committees supporting mental health, drug/alcohol addiction, clinical in/outpatient treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with Executive and Clinical Team to establish partnerships with higher education entities, special initiatives and innovative service models as compatible extensions of the CIS core model.
  • Conduct Youth Mental Health First Aid Training for teachers, district personnel, and other adults.
  • Attend CISDR administration meetings and perform other tasks that may be assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, human services or related field, plus four (4) years of related work experience, plus completion of Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or mental health related field.

Licenses and Certifications

Current licensure for LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Texas required

RPT (preferred, not required)

  • Skill in interpreting, organizing, coordinating, and executing assignments, projects and programs independently.

  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other CISDR employees, School Administration and the public.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, tact and diplomacy in all dealings and maintain ethics and confidentiality as required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry and otherwise move up to 15 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, or walk for various lengths of time throughout the day.
  • Ability to utilize computer equipment to complete daily work responsibilities.
  • Ability to operate fax/copy machines, telephone, calculator, and general office equipment on a daily basis.
  • Inside work in an office environment with no exposure to weather conditions.
  • Available to work 7.5 hours per day and/or 37.5 hours per week or more as necessary to meet objectives.
  • Ability to travel for meetings, agency trainings and other miscellaneous work assignments within or outside the Greater Dallas Area. Reliable transportation is a must.
