Job Summary

The Classification Specialist is responsible for conducting job classification audit functions to obtain and retain a qualified workforce at the Minnesota of Revenue. The position will conduct job and organizational analysis and write formal classification determinations. The person in this role will ideally be an expert in conducting research and gathering information from a variety of sources, analyzing and synthesizing complex details and have the communication skills to clearly articulate job audit results. This person should thrive in a deadline driven, face-paced, high-energy environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Human Resources Specialist 1:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a closely related field

OR

Two years paraprofessional/ technical human resource experience that includes staffing functions such as creating job postings, reviewing resumes, job analysis, or related functions

Human Resources Specialist 2:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field of study and one (1) year of professional HR experience in a human resource environment;

OR

Two (2) years of professional Human Resource experience in job classification or job analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity a job evaluation system such as the Hay method
  • Experience conducting public sector job analysis and making job classification determinations
  • Experience writing formal reports, research papers, or memorandums
  • Experience interpreting current employment laws, regulations, and policies related to classification, recruitment, selection, hiring, promotion, and/or retention
  • Experience promoting and enhancing diversity, inclusion, and equity

Additional Requirements

Prior to an offer of employment, a background check will be conducted. This will include, but is not limited to, checking degrees and licensures, criminal history, and tax filing and payment history. All individual income tax filing and payment obligations must be current prior to interviewing for this position.

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
