The Claims Agent will report to the Team Lead – Worker’s Compensation and will work with colleagues in a large law department in a publicly traded Fortune 100 international energy company.
Responsibilities:
Coordinating management of worker’s compensation claims with Third Party Administrator, including evaluating accuracy of reserves and influencing early return to work and guiding claim outcomes
Independently managing general liability and subrogation claims
Facilitating the intake and closing of claims
Investigating facts related to allegations, including collection of relevant documents from all parties involved
Evaluating liability, determining damages to be collected or paid and negotiating settlements
Participating in file reviews and presenting claims to business units and legal management as necessary
Facilitating resolution of claims and settlements by obtaining the necessary internal approvals, utilizing the correct Releases and ensuring compliance with Medicare requirements
Issuing or approving payments where appropriate
Maintaining accurate and complete activity notes across database systems
Adhering to department procedures and best practices
Requirements:
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a regular, full-time basis with no restrictions
High School diploma/GED
Minimum of five years-experience in worker’s compensation claims management
Preferred:
Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with internal business clients and outside of the Company
Excellent negotiation skills
Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on ability to prioritize
Ability to efficiently apply problem solving and analytical skills
Willingness to work independently and in a team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft office products
Adjuster’s License in current standing
Experience in general liability and subrogation claims management
