DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Civil Engineer Trainee, the incumbent will participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to learn the duties of a Civil Engineer (General).

As Civil Engineer Trainee for the Safe Drinking Water Program in the Northwest Regional Office, this position is directly under the supervision of the Environmental Engineer Manager. An employee in this position is responsible for review or analysis of technical engineering information associated with those activities delegated to the Safe Drinking Water and Water Allocation Programs. In the performance of their duties, the employee is guided by established policies, procedures and work schedules while making technical decisions on the interpretation of these guidelines and receiving minimum supervision.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Meadville.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • You must have successfully examined and have a current score on file. If you have not already done so, you must first apply to the CIVIL ENGINEER TRAINEE (ONLINE EXAM) posting and follow the directions provided.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
