SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
This position is accountable for delivering school psychological services to students who are exceptional or thought to be exceptional who are being educated in Wilkinsburg schools. The candidate may also be assigned to assess Wilkinsburg students in Alternative School placements, Approved Private Schools, and Licensed
Private Schools. The purpose of the position is to determine student eligibility for special education services and to provide psychological assessment and intervention that enhances the student’s ability to participate in general and special education settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Administer and interpret standardized psychological or educational assessments and report on results.
2. Conduct psycho-educational diagnostic evaluations for individual students including classroom observations, preparation of Evaluation Reports, and recommendations on need and eligibility for special education services.
3. Work directly with special education support personnel and teachers to plan the proper instruction and supports for students.
4. Conduct functional behavioral assessments and create positive behavior support plans.
5. Coordinate school-wide positive behavior support.
6. Ensure compliance with implementation of timelines and all required special education documents included in Chapter 14, Chapter 16, and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
7. Monitor the Re-evaluation process including review and/or writing of Re-evaluation Reports (RRs), which may include evaluations for out-of-district placement students.
8. Serve as a member of the IEP team and attend meetings as requested to generate academic and behavioral interventions in accordance with pupil needs.
9. Monitor and assist with development and implementation of Chapter 15 Service Agreements.
10. Interpret assessment results to the educational team.
11. Obtain, integrate, and interpret information about health conditions related to learning.

12. Conduct individual and group counseling in the school setting, which may involve the provision of individual casework/consultation to students, families, schools, and agency staff.
13. Maintain accurate documentation of all professional activities and submit the documentation in a timely manner as required by Wilkinsburg School District policies and procedures.
14. Maintain regular communication with Director of Special Education through submission of a detailed weekly schedule, detailed time sheets and personal communication.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
1. Experience working with school age population preferred
3. Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills
5. Self-motivated, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible
6. Ability and experience working as a member of a team
7. Skilled in the use of IEPWriter (Leader Services), Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint,
Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree; Valid PA Certification in School Psychologist K-12 required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 days plus an additional 10 days, over the summer to provide preventive, diagnostic-prescriptive, and consultative services for students and school personnel as per the Wilkinsburg
Act 93 Agreement

Pay: $79,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
