Certified Peer Support Specialist

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a full-time Certified Peer Support Specialist to provide a non-clinical approach that helps clients discover their strengths and develop their own unique recovery goals at our Diane Ahrens Crisis & IRTS Residence. This program integrates mental health and substance use care in a short and long-term residential setting. These services help individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis or acute mental health.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Location: Diane Ahrens in St. Paul, MN

Hiring Range: $17.50-$18.15/hr - Depending on experience

Hiring bonus of $1,000 for external candidates

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED and minimum of 21 years of age
  • Primary diagnosis of mental illness
  • Current or former consumer of mental health services
  • Current and valid Minnesota Driver's License and auto insurance with a clean driving record
  • MN DHS approved Certified Peer Specialist Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with people who have serious and persistent mental illness, chemical dependency, seizures, epilepsy, and/or other high barriers to services

Main Job Duties:

  • Actively participating in all team meetings and promoting a recovery perspective as a key component of all discussions with all members of the team
  • Supporting our consumers with skill development training in socialization, problem solving, self-awareness, and awareness of others
  • Facilitating the development of recovery skills including mental / chemical health management
  • Demonstrating cultural sensitivity and competence relevant to the needs of the recipients in recovery
  • Providing instruction, modeling and feedback in the area of supportive living skills
