Train to become a Certified Nursing Assistant with The Good Shepherd Community and join one of the fastest-growing career fields in America. A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is an important member of our healthcare team. In fact, health care couldn't happen without CNAs. The CNA is responsible for the direct care of our residents. CNAs assist with daily activities, such as dressing, bathing and eating. They also have an important role in keeping residents safe and comfortable.
As a Nursing Assistant Trainee, you'll receive 75 hours of training, plus time learning the clinical skills you'll need to do the job. After completing the course, you'll be eligible to take the CNA examination. To enroll in the program, you'll need to be at least 16 years of age, ability to complete the independent study within time frame (35 hours) and be able to attend all class dates without exception.
Prospective students should complete an application. Selected applicants will be invited to interview for an open seat in the class. Class sizes are limited. There will be no cost for attendance or certification. Classroom time (excluding independent study and state exam) is compensated at a rate of $15.00/HR. Upon completion of the program and successful state certification, students will begin working as Certified Nursing Assistants and be compensated at a rate of $18.25/HR.

Initial student meetings will be on Tuesday, January 3rd (4pm-7pm).- Independent, online study begins on Tuesday, January 3rd through Monday, January 16th.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must remain enrolled in the nurse aide training program. Attendance is required for ALL class dates and independent study must be completed in the time frame allotted.
- Passing the written and skills competency evaluation for placement on the registry must be completed within four months from date of hire.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be able to read, write, and follow directions in English.
