Certified Medical Assit./Aide; Jail Job at Johnson County Texas
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of a supervisor, performs clinical and clerical work of a repetitive and routine nature requiring accurate typing and knowledge of Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures. Certified Medical Assistant/Aide will be performing a variety of general and advanced clerical tasks including maintenance of file systems, logs, and records and compiling information to assist in the efficient accomplishment of support activities. Primary clinical role will be to maintain medication storage area and reorder, stock and transcribe medication orders, and administration of medication. The Certified Medication Assistant/Aide will also administer medications to inmates. These tasks are performed as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations, and consistent with facility policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Required:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Required:
· Current and valid Texas driver’s license and a safe driving record
· Knowledge of safe medication administration technique
· Ability to recognize complications and adverse effects from medication
· Exceptional skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with County staff, inmates, police departments and the public
· Exceptional knowledge of medications, drugs, and narcotics and their effects
· General knowledge of basic hardware/software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, Outlook
· General skill in operating standard office equipment such as personal computers, calculators, and telephones
· Possess a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality
· Ability to accurately sort, file, and retrieve material using alphabetical, numerical, or chronological systems
· Keen attention to detail; careful and accurate data entry

· Contact with “at risk” clients and persons accused or adjudicated of misdemeanor and felony offenses, visitors and general public
· Work is performed mostly indoors in a 24-hour/7-day confined, security facility

PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
· The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to find, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel and climb stairs
· Must be able to safely lift 20 lbs.
HOURS / SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, evenings and nights. Must be able to work 12 hour shifts.
