The Infirmary Unit provides inpatient care with 24-hour nursing coverage in a 13-bed unit and provides medical management for 1400+ inmates. Medical management includes: initial screening/assessment, triage and appropriate referral, daily sick call, medication administration, med-surg., psych, urgent/emergent, quality improvement, chronic care program, and infection control.
Medical Assistant has duties and responsibilities related to patient care in the healthcare and security environment. Displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions as a member of the healthcare team. Functions under the direct supervision and authority of the provider when performing clinical tasks during patient care. Reports to the nurse manager, who is responsible for administrative supervision, staff development, and orientation to the area's policies and procedures. Must demonstrate competency in skills related to the performance of patient care. Demonstrates problem- solving skills as they relate to patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS - Statutory requirements for certified medical assistant found at 37-3-102 and 37-3-104, MCA, ARM 24.156.401 and ARM 24.156.415; 2-year job-related college or vocational training from an accredited medical assistant program.
