POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for scheduling, canceling, rescheduling of outpatient visits and procedures for multiple ambulatory clinics, by collecting all necessary information for schedule and registration preparation. The completions of the responsibilities listed are handled via direct patient contact in a clinical office setting with a high volume of daily patients.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

High school or equivalent of education required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
1.
Two (2) years’ experience preferred or two years post high school education preferred in Health Care Administration, Medical Assistant, or related field.

1.
Schedule patients/customers based on scheduling guidelines and medical appropriateness within the appropriate clinic.
2.
Process a high volume of patients in multiple clinical areas.
3.
Research required information using assessable resources.
4.
Obtain and collect all necessary information from the patient/customer to schedule the patient for an appointment.
5.
Identify and communicate need for scheduling modifications and development.
6.
Communicate perceived problem issues to the Supervisor or Manager.
7.
Notify appropriate personnel of any scheduling change due to patient cancellation in a timely fashion.
8.
Receive and respond to patient and staff needs and complaints appropriately within the realm of the “patient care” environment, involving department supervisors and patient representative as needed.
9.
Consult with referring physician’s office to ensure written and/or electronic orders exist and obtain them as needed.
10.
Verify completeness upon receiving the written or electronic order.
11.
Document in patient’s chart that the ordering physician has been instructed to send order-will be held responsible by department if not received.
12.
Responsible for collecting all time of service payments and copayments for patients at point of scheduling.
13.
Responsible for reconciling daily collections and reporting discrepancies.
14.
Participate in on-going education activities to develop, maintain, and enhance professional expertise as monitored by supervision.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong Meditech/Epic computer skills.
2.
Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology preferred.
3.
Knowledge of third party payors and insurance preferred.
4.
Requires critical thinking skills, analytical skills.
5.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
6.
Requires strong communication, customer service, interpersonal skills and telephone etiquette.
7.
Must be able to take appropriate action in a stress environment.
8.
Able to react effectively and calmly in emergencies.
9.

10.
Cooperatively interacts with the health care team to support and contribute the shared group goals.
