JOB TITLE: Center Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for the daily operations of the imaging center which includes interpersonal relationships with all staff members and the radiologists.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Director of Imaging Center Operations
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises all imaging center staff
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for hiring and evaluating all imaging center employees.
  • Maintain imaging center employees’ work and vacation schedules.
  • Work closely with the Administrative Supervisor in the decision making of hiring ancillary staff.
  • Work closely with the Director of Imaging Center Operations and other Center Managers to make sure all policies and procedures are consistent throughout our organization.
  • Maintain and document any contact with referring physicians to make sure our service meets their satisfaction with the goal of increasing exam volumes and market share. Expectations – 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Arrange quarterly meetings with the staff to disseminate information and to encourage participation within the organization.
  • Coordinate with Director of Technical Services to manage and maintain all equipment service to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Responsible for overseeing and approving all purchasing of consumable items used within the centers.
  • Respond to patient’s surveys to determine areas of strength, weakness and opportunities for improvements. Expectations - 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve customer problems quickly and effectively by demonstrating concern for satisfying the customer need in a cheerful and positive manner.
  • Oversee technical staff in operation of imaging equipment, evaluate accuracy and quality of images, provide technical assistance and ensure conformity to established protocols.
  • Required to attend monthly Center Manager’s meeting (locations may vary).
  • Participate in special events as required to support the imaging centers in any/all locations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to solve specific operating problems and improve internal operations of the center. Anticipate possible problems and develop contingency plans in advance.
  • Assist in preparation of the imaging center budget.
  • Coordinate the purchase of supplies and equipment for the center. Monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures promptly and deliver to accounts payable.
  • Responsible for maintaining open communication with billing representatives, in order to resolve internal and external issues in an efficient manner.
  • Coordinate maintenance personnel, cleaning services and other vendor visits to the center. Maintain appropriate security measures at all times.
  • Implement and monitor radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Director of Technical Services and modality Leads to maintain ACR accreditation in all modalities.
  • Review current literature and attend meetings to keep informed of new developments. Evaluate training program for all staff, conduct and arrange for training as appropriate.
  • Supervises, trains, orients and evaluates performance over assigned personnel. Recommends merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions.
  • Perform as a technologist as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.

The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology, nuclear medicine technology, or sonography is preferred. College AS or BS degree preferred for non-technical and technical candidates.
EXPERIENCE: Proven track record showing leadership skills and the ability to handle stressful situations with a calm demeanor. Five years minimum experience in health care with supervisory experience preferred. Previous team leader or supervisory experience is a must. Equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience will be considered.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE: Certification or licensure as an imaging technologist is not a requirement.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic medical and managed care terminology.
  • Skill in organization, problem solving and time management.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with medical staff and other center building users.

ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work effectively with external agencies, vendors and staff.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and exercise strict confidentiality and discretion in all matters.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both internally and externally.
  • Ability to organize and analyze information and present options/ alternatives.
  • Ability to be a dependable, self-starter.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Physical demands include carrying up to 50 pounds and assisting with patient care.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. Work location may be variable. Frequent contact with staff, patients and outside agencies.
