The College of Public Health and Human Sciences is seeking a Director for the Center of Global Health . This is a part-time 0.50 FTE , 12-month, professional faculty position.
This position will serve as the Director for the Global Health Center in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences (CPHHS). An enthusiastic leader will have an active hand in continuing the leadership and management of the Center to promote research, foster engagement and learning, and facilitate partnership building in the area of global health in the college, across the university, and with representatives from private, government, and international agencies.

An enthusiastic leader will have an active hand in continuing the leadership and management of the Center to promote research, foster engagement and learning, and facilitate partnership building in the area of global health in the college, across the university, and with representatives from private, government, and international agencies.
The successful candidate will provide leadership of all aspects of the Center for Global Health, create a unique niche for the Center within CPHHS and OSU, build on areas of strength, and prioritize key thematic areas of interest. They will lead and support project design, implementation, and programmatic innovation around early intervention and prevention, adolescent health, women’s health, maternal and child health, mental health, neglected tropical diseases, global workforce development, and other relevant program priorities. The successful candidate will also create and support innovative global learning and student mentorship programs.
The Director for the Global Health Center reports directly to the dean of the college and collaborates with the other CPHHS Center Directors and the Associate Dean for Research to ensure a coordinated approach to collaborative research and outreach across disciplines within the college and with faculty of other colleges and institutions.
The Director for the Global Health Center serves at the pleasure of the Dean. The expectation is that this will be a. 50 FTE, five-year appointment reviewed annually, and renewable upon mutual agreement following a comprehensive review during the second year of the appointment.

- Lead and mentor faculty and build multi-disciplinary teams to address critical global health challenges. Build upon current strengths and opportunities to maximize the capacity of this center. Liaison and catalyze interactions among other existing centers in the college and across campus. The center will conduct high quality research, translate research into practice, and build the capacities of communities to enhance the health of individuals and families.
- Develop and sustain multidisciplinary and innovative education and training programs and resources, including study abroad, internship abroad, and service-learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, for the advancement of knowledge and skills among all learners.
- Lead and support globalization efforts across OSU more broadly and catalyze opportunities to network and encourage collaboration across colleges.
- Advance effective global health research and discovery in CPHHS and OSU.
- Champion sustainable and equitable global health efforts focused on current and emerging health care needs in community-based settings.
- Lead the development of appropriate local, national, and international partnerships in global health to advance recruitment, retention, and education goals of CPHHS.
- Provide vision and direction. Develop short- and long-term plans, establish goals and milestones, and monitor outcomes.
- Provide program management. Lead faculty to build holistic, interdisciplinary teams to work on center activities.
- Build external relations and outreach. Develop and implement strategies for external communication, including building a strong presence on the web and issuing press releases in coordination with the Public Health and Human Sciences Director of Marketing and Communications. Build partnerships in the community and state.
- Engage in fundraising initiatives on behalf of the Center.
- Manage budget(s) for GHC.
- A PhD in Public Health, Nutrition, Human Development and Family Sciences, Kinesiology, or related disciplines.
- Established history of, and active engagement in funded scholarship, demonstrated evidence of collaborative leadership, strong commitments to the application and translation of research, and an appreciation for broad intellectual inquiry and methods.
- Must currently be tenured at the Associate Professor or Professor level in the CPHHS.
- A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Expertise and experience in multidisciplinary approaches that integrate basic sciences, social sciences and behavior, and translation to the community; and in implementing community-empowering approaches in global health research and outreach activities with a focus on health equity.
