Category Manager, CE & Safety Job at Thomas Scientific LLC
The Safety-CE Category Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Controlled Environment (cleanroom) product lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage overall supplier relationships in both supplier branded products and Thomas branded products.
- Expand supplier and product portfolios via well executed product gap analysis and implementation.
- Negotiate pricing terms, freight and payment terms.
- Identify, evaluate and select strategic suppliers with support of sales leadership team.
- Develop and manage Strategic Distribution Agreements with key supplier partners.
- Coordinate and execute marketing plans to ensure profitable growth, margin objectives, and market expansion.
- Interface with sales managers on new supplier opportunities and sales personnel on the progress of supplier field support activities.
- Interface with sales personnel on strategic supplier sales opportunities, including customer onsite visits and regional sales meetings.
- Support marketing in generating revenues via media programs, coordinate rebate programs and margin expansion initiatives, with the objective of meeting supplier/product growth goals.
- Meet or exceed overall and individual supplier growth objectives in sales and gross profits, as well as media and rebate revenues within this category.
- Coordinate supplier product and technical training to regional sales teams.
- Work with suppliers and Thomas marketing/content teams to set up new products, and create web content, literature and sales promotion materials.
- Report sales and profit performance, including portfolio expansion data on a monthly basis. Report media and rebate revenues, measuring against supplier sales performance.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.

- A BA/BS Degree in Science or Business Administration
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in safety product sales and/or product management, with a preference in the life science production and/or laboratory markets.
- High Energy, Motivated, Self-Starter .
- Strong analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to establish priorities.
- Ability to travel.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
