A downtown law firm is looking for a temporary cash receipts candidate to work on a 4 month plus project that could extend longer and possibly convert.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides daily support and coverage to the Cash receipts area and handles check deposits.
  • Enters AP invoices and client charges (disbursements) into the Firm's accounting
  • Handles all aspects of processing check payments received from clients, including preparation of the daily log of receipts, confirmation of the status of the invoice, depositing checks to the firm’s Citibank account via remote check deposit or in person at the branch
  • Reviews and enters vendor invoices into the accounting system
  • Reviews travel expenses and invoices processed via Chrome River
  • Vendor set-up and maintenance
  • Scans invoices to archiving system as needed
  • Inputs soft costs (miscellaneous client charge backs)
  • Processes cost transfers
  • Collates and mails checks to vendors
  • Handles foreign currency petty cash disbursements
  • Provides back-up as required
  • Assists with special projects as needed.

Requirements:
  • Associate degree with a minimum of six college credits in accounting.
  • Two years of previous AP or AR experience required.
  • Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills; numerical aptitude; professionalism and integrity. Incumbent should also have the ability to work under pressure with interruptions and tight deadlines; the ability to use independent judgment, problem solve, answer questions thoroughly and juggle multiple tasks. Must be organized, detail oriented, a team player and possess a high degree of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of the application of data processing techniques relating to accounting systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Outlook, Chrome River, Elite or 3E accounting system is a plus.
  • This position requires 5 days in-office work. All positions require punctuality and regular attendance.
