Parks/Seneca State Forest/Pocahontas County - Under general supervision of the
Superintendent, employee in this classification constructs, maintains, alters, and repairs
buildings or fabricates and repairs a variety of wooden articles and equipment at Seneca State

Forest. Current facilities on the 11,684 acres of Seneca State Forest include: 8 pioneer CCC-
built cabins; 10 tent/trailer campsites; coin-operated shower house with laundry facilities; 3-acre

lake with boat rentals; restored Thorny Mountain fire tower reservable for overnight stays; picnic grounds with rentable shelters; playground; and 23 miles of hiking trails. Employee will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work. This work will include but not be limited to: rough and fine carpentry; plumbing; electrical; concrete and masonry; window cleaning; trash pickup; landscaping and grounds keeping; operate small water treatment plant; snow removal; housekeeping and janitorial work; repair water lines; floor care and maintenance; wash vehicles; vehicle maintenance; deliver cots and cribs to forest cabins; repair toilets and sewer systems;
repair sewer lines; move furniture; load and unload supplies; move and replace appliances; inventories supplies; repair phone system; repair kitchen equipment; electronic repairs; maintains smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors; small engine repair; maintains safe workplace; painting; operate vehicles; operate heavy equipment and mowing equipment; and operate various tools and power equipment. Employee will work with forest guests to immediately resolve their maintenance requests in a manner reflecting a positive image for Seneca State Forest. Employee will keep all documentation and records as required by the supervisor. Employee will be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and night shifts.

Employee will be available for “on call” work and will work throughout all Seneca State Forest facilities. Employee will be able to lift and move heavy objects and will be required to work on ladders and at rooftop heights. Must have knowledge of various woods and materials; standard practices and methods of the carpentry trade; tools and materials used in repairing and constructing wooden articles; and must have skill in the use of carpenter’s hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines. Employee must have the ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings, or sketches, and to make accurate arithmetic calculations and
measurements.

Employee performs all related and non-related work as required or assigned. Employee will wear assigned uniforms. Must be licensed or eligible to operate a motor vehicle in WV. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.

Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent.
Substitution: Additional experience as stated below may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis. Experience: Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience or self-employment in the area of assignment.
Substitution: Completion of related training from a vocational school or an approved
apprenticeship program may substitute through an established formula on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: The employee must possess physical strength sufficient to perform strenuous tasks for considerable periods of time and to perform carpenter work from ladders or
scaffolding.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26,333.00 - $48,716.00 per hour
