Grays Harbor College is accepting applications for a Career and Technical Education & K-12 Support Specialist. The specialist is responsible for recruiting and providing holistic and intrusive academic support for students throughout Grays Harbor County and Pacific County service area who are pursuing Grays Harbor College through Career and Technical Education (CTE), Dual Credit and World Class Scholars programs and partnerships. This position will build community awareness of Grays Harbor College through the development of partnerships and strong relationships with advisory boards, labor representatives, high school and college faculty and administrators, community members, businesses, industry, school boards, Chambers of Commerce, and parents. The specialist will also assist in the coordination of campus-wide outreach and recruitment events designed to attract a diverse student body. The Carl D. Perkins Grant partially funds this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate outreach, recruitment, and engagement activities with service area high school staff, faculty, and family members. These events will focus on recruiting prospective students; explaining college entry processes and educational pathways; and guiding prospective students on what their next steps should be based on their area of interest and any dual credit accumulation.
  • In close collaboration with the Grays Harbor College Foundation, coordinate the World Class Scholars Program at school districts in Pacific and Grays Harbor Counties.
  • Provide outreach, including presentations and orientations to new and prospective students, high school counselors, GHC advisors, and other parties as needed to promote CTE, Dual Credit, and general college outreach opportunities.
  • Coordinate college placement testing and credit transcription in partnership with students, K12 partners, and GHC Enrollment Services staff.
  • Provide accurate, timely information and guidance to CTE and Dual Enrollment high school students, parents, school teachers, administrators, and district officials, representing the College at programs for the Dual Enrollment high school market, and encouraging dual credit students to consider attending GHC upon graduation.
  • Maintain current and accurate documentation of Programs of Study
  • In partnership with other staff, maintain positive relationships with participating schools, higher education, business, industry, and other external partners that participate in a variety of activities that enhance students’ understanding of various aspects of the industry related to their field of study, and engage employers in a variety of career related learning experiences.
  • Assists students enrolled in dual enrollment/credit programs with the creation of personalized education plans; course selection, understanding degree requirements and determining program of study, and clarifying career, educational and life goals.
  • Implement a case management approach to monitoring enrollment and academic progress of program participants.
  • Assists with entry registration and drop-in advising during peak periods as requested
  • Maintain accurate files, forms, contact information, and the SERS (State Enrollment and Reporting System) online registration system containing all required documentation entered timely for articulated courses.
  • In partnership with GHC’s Enrollment Services staff, evaluate high school transcripts and assist with the transcription of CTE and Dual Credit in ctcLink as requested.
  • Serve as the College’s primary recruitment and entry pathway officer for CTE, dual enrollment and World Class Scholar students and their families.
  • Use a mix of personalization and multi-channel communication options to keep prospective students on track with key activities to enroll and advance towards completion and transfer/career goals.
  • Compile and report on outreach and enrollment data, program goals/outcomes and other required reports
  • Engage in ongoing retention activities and events for students, specifically focused on historically underrepresented student populations and students in CTE programs to support retention and completion, including but not limited to summer bridge events, quarterly support and social events, check-in outreach communication campaigns, etc.
  • Coordinate campus and other outreach-related activities focused on targeted populations, such as information sessions, application and registration workshops, campus tours, and lead planning efforts for events affiliated with the Carl D. Perkins Act.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Associate Degree with a minimum of two years of experience in working with students in higher education or social service delivery setting OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience facilitating or teaching workshops, seminars and/or presentations
  • Strong project management and computer skills
  • Understanding of, and experience with, successfully supporting individuals from varied and diverse backgrounds
Desired Qualifications
  • At least two years of experience in providing coordination of events or in recruitment
  • Familiarity with college entry processes, including financial aid and scholarship processes
  • Experience in developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with agencies, institutions, councils and/or businesses
  • Experience with outreach and recruitment and/or entry services in a college setting
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong skills in written, oral, and listening communications.
  • Bilingual, preferably Spanish/English
