RESPONSIBILITIES

The Café Associate position allows our members and guests to focus on their fitness goals by providing healthy and delicious food and drink options. The Café Associate uses product knowledge to educate and sell café items to members and guests.

• Continuously modeling and promoting the NYSC and our family of brands mission, mission statement, and values with pride and integrity.
• Providing a legendary member experience by consistently executing the Five Agreements.
• Reviewing and adhering to all NYSC and our family of brands documents including but not limited to policies and procedures, employee handbook, state supplement, codes of conduct, etc.
• Creating a welcoming environment at the café.
• Greeting all members as they walk by or approach the café.
• Ability to stay focused, efficient and effective in managing multiple priorities.
• Professional demeanor and ability to defuse difficult situations in a calm manner.
• Assisting members in making the best choices for their needs/wants.
• Ability to utilize product knowledge and relate it to the member’s health and fitness goals.
• Working collaboratively with team members and the Café Supervisor to ensure that member and guest orders are fulfilled in an efficient, accurate and friendly manner.
• Following the proper ServSafe rules and regulations when preparing menu items and cleaning utensils.
• Getting to know and remembering member repeat orders, likes and dislikes.
• Learning current café promotions and communicating them to members and guests.
• Taking advantage of opportunities to learn about current and new products offered in the café.
• Actively selling café items.
• Achieving shift goals and actively working to up-sell menu items.
• Participating in café sales contests.
• Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• ServSafe Certification preferred.
• Child & Adult AED/CPR certified.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to operate the meat slicer.
• Previous experience in the food industry preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Physical demands include ability to lift up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations, walk through all areas of the club, climbing stairs (where applicable), and bending and lifting (e.g. picking up towels, restacking weights, moving equipment as needed). The company reserves the right to change them as business needs require and that jobs may require other tasks as assigned to the employee by the company.
• Ability to proficiently use our POS and membership system, timekeeping any other computer programs required to meet the business needs of the customer and NYSC and our family of brands.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS

Due to the nature of the business, NYSC and our family of brands has specific scheduling guidelines for this position.

• Flexible schedule with the ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
